I am starting to be very disappointed in some people around here. I can understand the bullshit from cube monkeys like Dat, but some of you other people are letting me down. I know and you know that getting into that lower lot at ABasin is practically impossible until about 2 or 3 on a powder Saturday, if you didn't get there by 9:30-10. It was my local hill furcryingoutloud. And now that it's going to be the only game in town pretty soon.....

Besides, why bother? Just stay home and watch three stooges reruns at that point. The people who ski powder have tracked the whole place up. Wait til Monday, when the cube people are back home staring at computers.

Nope. Between my buds and roommates and travel, I was OK.

Well, the last three days were all kinds of awesome although I am very depressed that the lifts are done with the mountain skiing so well. Saturday was one of the best days of the entire season.

Goddamn. Everyone that is bitching about the conditions not being good enough this weekend is doing it wrong. Especially Benny, since being on the east coast right now is definitely doing it wrong.

I sat in my cube on Thurs and Fri. Skied over the head snow on Thurs night after work, and all day Sat and Sun.

What a fantastic weekend of skiing, some of the best turns all season.

Had a great morning at Breck on Friday. Deeps turns on E Chair first thing and then over in Horseshoe Bowl when that opened. Left when they shut down the tbar due to 80mph gusts and went back to work. Skied ABasin on Saturday in the Beavers and Steep Gullies. Thigh deep turns and no tracks in the Beavers was the theme and skiing steep pow in the Gullies was sweet. Skied off the hangover I had from celebrating a friend's bday the night before. Gonna be a sad for me when they put a lift in out there. Sunday was skiing with the fam at Breck for closing day and catching the free Infamous Stringdusters' show. Those guys rip! Fun time. The snow was excellent up high yesterday with soft turns all over and little refreshers from the periodic squalls moving through. No lift lines to speak of either. Given how well Breck was skiing yesterday, it makes me a little sad that the closest lifts are closing. Still got ABasin though.

Another 4-6" last night with a NW breeze. Lots of wind transport going on from the heavily loaded W slopes as well. I observed some cracking up high on leeward aspects but no movement otherwise. Be wary of the sheltered, steep NE gullies @ treeline that the sun didn't hit before the storm. I had one of these small pockets release (new storm snow only) below me yesterday.

Closed out Breckenridge yesterday. No lines, was skiing like it was untracked all day. Thanks wind. Finished it off with a 630pm ski down the sky chutes ('S') in the evening light. Surprised there wasn't another track down it. What a great day to end the season there.

Benny, what the fuck are you going on about? You are arguing about real life on the ground parking and snow conditions from the other side of the continent. Once you got past the drama that was I-70, the ski areas and the backcountry were amazingly quiet this weekend. You had to be a bit of a snow ninja, but the snow and skiing were excellent.

I know. Just calling out the bullshitters. I mean, 1pm? Shit, I might be leaving the mountain by then.

Next year I rent until 4/15. Hope it snows more.

    LOL the Front Rage AMIRITE?

Ajax was choice on Friday. There was hardly anyone there. Had a surprise face shot or two down Walsh's.

Hiked Snowmass on Saturday. It was so deep you could barely get enough speed to turn.

Looking forward to enjoying the snow a second time in Slaughterhouse. Hit me up if you want to run it when the flows come up.

So you are telling me that you know for a fact what the parking scene was at 1pm? What would you say if I told you that I parked 100ft. from the lift 5mins. before it opened then made laps on untracked runs for a couple hours?

Hint: You were not there, you do not know. You are the bullshitter. You are believing your own delusions. I thought it was going to be busy. I thought it might suck. It wasn't busy and it didn't suck. You don't know if you don't go.

    You're the bullshitter this time.

WTF's story is legit. People ski and leave to go work etc., sheeple never check the lower lot when the others are full and they're late.

    So maybe you're a sheepshitter?

And how have you not met a maggot? I've met well over a half dozen, and I live in Kansas.

My Sunday routine is to show up at 1pm, park up front, ride till the lifts close, then break out the beer and brats. Must have done that over ten times this season. People are always leaving to beat traffic and the place is a ghost town.

That's the fucking point. People leave. (Smart) people who show up at lunchtime or later park up front.

    Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

All I know is Friday at LL was great, thanks to a horse trailer and Boat in the middle of I70, ABasin Sat was great, esp. in the Alleys/Waterfall/Gauthier where no one was, and I was not an early riser thanks to my 3 year old.

Great stoke above getting hidden by BS. Ending the day skiing an untracked SKY chutes? Fucking sweet.

Anyone up at ABasin yesterday or today know if the upper east wall hike is open? If so, how rocky/sketchy are the dropins? Better to hike the staircases below if I don't want to fuck up my skis?

Benny Profane tomahawked down Molly Hogan. True story.

Showed up an hour after opening Saturday and parked 60’ from MJ C-lift. No bribes needed. Not exactly a mid April rarity, even if there's 18" in 48 hours...

Saturday and Sunday are two different animals. I agree, most of the front rangers are leaving or thinking of it by 1 on Sunday. Not Saturday.

You do know that there is a manned gate at both entrances to that lot, right? It's not as though you can just drive right in after a certain time. But, here's a hint. Try a few edibles and or sticks to get into that upper entrance. Be discreet. Oh, and it helps to car pool at that time. Three or more.

Do you live in Lawrence? Otherwise, sorry about that Kansas thing. Even then.

Oh, and my whole point, as I said to Dat, is that, if you're drinking so much the night before the mountains expect nearly a foot, and can't get your shit together for the first first tracks in almost a month, arriving at 1pm, you don't deserve a break. Good lord. And he seemed to be proud of that. Maybe if it hasn't snowed in two weeks and you're just waiting for it to soften up, but, a foot of snow? Madone.

Hey, at least you got there before the lifts opened. See my point above.

Pretty much all of the main east wall was open yesterday....except like first notch. It skied really deep. Didn't get up to 2nd Notch/Narrows..but heard still on thin side. Staircases were great. Corner chute looked awesome.

CMsummit, that second picture is $$$$. Love the background with the boulder field above the skier.
