Hard to imagine what the spammers hope to accomplish. It's so obviously spam is there anyone actually stupid enough to click on whatever's in there? Or even look at what's been posted? Seems like they would have a better shot at getting an accidental click-through by adding posts to existing threads.
Anywho, back to page 1...

Oh sure, like you've never had any love problems and haven't tried at least three of those black magic solutions?!...![]()

Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!
Or its magics subliminal advertising telling us the black line tavern will solve all of our romantic problems.
Twilight Zone was better today than it has ever been when officially open...okay maybe not ever, but it was damn fine. 2+ inches of dense, wet snow on top of an edgeable crust made for high speed laps with no fear of hitting anything.
Skied a couple of tree lines and didn't hit anything.
far better than expected.
Didn't head to the west side but allegedly, it was skiing very nicely.
Great day. Twilight was indeed awesome. Magician "allegedly" FKN awesome. Might have made my day.
nice! So bummed my stomach decided it was better to spend most of the day in the throne room. I finally got out for a hike around the backyard with the kiddos late in the afternoon after things settled, they were bummed we didn't head to Magic though. Looks like it was splendid!
Pissed I didn't ski Sorcerer. The trail count should be at 100%. Anyone tag Goniffs?
Goniffs was nice! Looked like it had seen a lot of traffic too... The bottom is tricky, but it always is anyway... I think Twilight Zone skied better though...
it appears the expected smoothing that I heard mentioned occured. Full speed ahead.
With full coverage and very good conditions, it begs the question of what can be done about El Capitan, the non-skiing, sled riding (dick)head of Magic's ski patrol. It's just absurd that so little of the mountain was "open" when we have all skied those trails with considerably less cover.

/\ yea but isnt half the fun of magic snaking lines "patrol" hasnt opened yet
Uh-oh.
"timberridge is terminally vapid" -- a fortune cookie in Yueyang
Well the chute has an excavator, sleds, guns and pipe in it currently, so there's that... Don't let me stop any experts from dropping the rope on it though lol![]()
Also TZone would have been open if it didn't have 12 trees down in it fwiw, but patrol told us to have fun and ski it anyways so it could be much worse IMO. Didn't do BL or Witch and I'm sure we would have survived at the least but again, not sure how it would have treated the public though since crust was edgeable and rideable at mach but scraped off pretty quickly. I mean... If MMP fell, I fully expect that random gapers would die there haha.
Hell, I had a great weekend. It was nice to do some real adventure skiing again but let's be honest... It was far from a 100% open kind of day. I'm just glad it was enough to poke around a bit and check shit out for a change.
HAHAHAHA!!!
on a more serious note, does anybody want to ski with me next Tuesday, 1/27? I don't give a shit if it is 80 and pissing, I am putting the kids in school and driving up in the morning. I realize that there won't be lifts spinning at Magic, but perhaps some turns at Bromley? Shoot me a pm. I have paid my dues playing dad for the last month, I need some "me" time.

"Public"? There's a public skiing at Magic? With trail counts barely cracking double digits the public appears to be staying away in droves. Any expert knows that you open sketchy terrain by putting up a gate with a scary sign warning that you will probably die if you decide to venture beyond and it's your own fault if you do.
I did see that someone used up all eight of Magic's bamboo poles to mark hazards on lower Magic Carpet. Nice work there!
I don't really like ducking ropes and I want to respect patrol's decisions, but all too often ropes stay up waaaaay too long. Apparently El Capitan chewed out one of his underlings for opening Up Your Sleeve and Medium in his absence, both of which skied quite well.
Much of the real and perceived problem with patrol would be solved by having an actual skier in charge, one with enthusiasm and true enjoyment for the sport. I can only recall seeing El Capitan on skis once in all the days I've skied there. And I've never seen him in a good mood or with a smile on his permanently frowning face. Although he did seem to get some perverse pleasure in chastising me for skiing Black on a big powder day last year when me and about 50 others (you know who you are!) lined up for first chair(s) ducked the rope across Witch to ski first tracks there. Apparently I should have waited until he got around to checking it out, maybe sometime that afternoon or maybe the next day.
Fact is, I rarely see *any* patrollers skiing. It's not as if it's hard to miss them with the red jackets and white crosses. And I get that there are requirements for having someone in the hut at the top, but it's like nowhere else I've ever skied that they are so absent from the slopes.

Patrol would have been pretty busy if any ropes had been dropped on saturday.
12 trees down in TZ? Brother, I have love for you and you know that's true, but yesterday was 100% a 100% day at Magic. The fact that there is an excavator in the middle of the trail I cant account for, I haven't seen a lot of excavators that high up a ski mountain in January.
PJ09 took off his skis, went inside and asked patrol if we could check the conditions and they agreed. AFTER it was skied it once already, it was a healthy group that first time through and we encountered another mag (on the phone) in the middle of the run. They were not generously offering for us to ski it.
I see where you're coming from and the position you're in. I also appreciate the hard work you do for the mountain, but I want my money's worth, and you and I are going to have to disagree about the "scraped and crusty" conditions. They could have sold dozens of lift tickets yesterday based on the actual conditions, had they been reported and let magic be skied.
Forget west. It is indefensible that Vertigo was closed.
I am in agreement that it seems that the actual skiing at magic is not on the powers that be's minds. They place a premium (rightly so) on the revenues that racing generates. They get that product ready.
