Attempting to milk the Truckee/North Tahoe area as much as possible before resigning myselft to pure Eastern Sierra summer skiing.
Poked around the Meadow Lake Road and White Rock Lake area on Thursday 6/12 and discovered some new (to me) acess roads that got me up behind Mt. Lola and crossing the PCT. Ended up skiing a quadrant of patches right off the PCT, shortest of which was a mere 3 turns; longest of which was a whopping 10 turns (I slush 8'd myself on that one).
Still breaking in my Blizzard Peacemakers, which are turning out to be a fine pair of patch skis.

Had a blast skiing over on Carson Pass on Thursday with Vets. I ended up spending all day skiing and hiking Moon Crescent and all the three Sisters chutes. It was crazy windy but the air temperature was just warm enough to keep us comfortable.

    Sunny side of Moon...

    1st Sisters corn palace...

Middle Sisters gnar face...a bit sketchy climb with hollow spots and the hardest spot I've ever put on skis...

And the final Sister chute all the way down to Round Top Lake...

Left the car at 8:50am and arrived back at the car at 5:30pm.

It was a lot of fun to do a recon ski day and find patches that we haven't skied before. This area has great potential on a better snow year.
I hope to add some photos of dookey67 soon.

Here are few from Roundtop/Sisters on the 12th while we are waiting for skier666's slaythegnar post-production team to post a full TR:

On a ridge on Sisters I stopped to take a couple of photos.
Looking up, I saw skier666 making a fairly interesting bootpack...

...looking down, I saw what I had to look forward to...

Cups don't look too bad. How was the mud situation getting out there?

There were a few places on the trail that were muddy, but not too deep or hard to get around. The snow up high was pretty smooth, However, the lower stuff was getting pretty cuppy.

Just banged out an apres work quickie (sans girlfriend) up Blackwood Canyon off the Ellis Peak Trail in what I'm calling "The 4th of July Chute Bowl". Soft-serve suncups/funcups.

anybody got an old rocket box, thule, or any ski box, especially a broken one (or half of one)? trying to find a solution for a water tight ski bin that slides in and out of the van so we can throw snowy skis in there and figured half a box would be ideal.

It's Hutchski's van. And yeah it doesn't blend well. Not sure how much we'll be in it in the winter though with the rear wheel drive but whenever we can. Haven't tried CL yet but that's next on the list.

Here's my report on snowbrains...definitely a solid day with the legendary patch skier Vets. Although, we didn't do much patch skiing near the Sisters.

The ski tuning shop on Donner Lake is no more--apparently the pressures of running a one-man business. Too bad--he did great work at a great price. The new owners still rent bikes and SUPs, repair bikes, and also have a yoga studio.
