Squaw did not suck today, wasn't even planning on going, but my phone informed me of the 7" and delayed opening (10:30am) so was able to hit the office for a second and then head up for a few hours. Only line I waited in all day was to get on the Funitel first thing. Snowed the entire time, wind was minimal, and tracks were filling back in by the time I left. Probably going to be an epic sh!tshow tomorrow with everybody compressed onto the 5 remaining lifts...

I'm looking for touring partners Monday the 28th, Tuesday the 29th, and Friday the 2nd. Tahoe or east side. Only caveat is that I have to be back in Tahoe the evening of the 28th, but I'm down for day trips. Mt. Rose, Carson Pass, Virginia Lakes, Tioga/Sonora (if they're open), whatever. If Tioga is open the 2nd I'd like to get down there.

Competent skier but mediocre by TGR standards. Experienced with touring, level I avy, pretty decent shape.

    PM me here or text/call 5 two 0 - 8 two 0 - 6 two 39

I have one ticket left for Squaw/Alpine that is available to any maggot who isn't a one-post wonder. PM me for how to get it. Good any day through end of season (like the next two). I can arrange for you to pick it up at Alpine.

PM me if you want it. Don't count on me checking this thread any time before the weekend is over.

It was surprisingly excellent yesterday (except for traversing out). Glad we ignored the lifties advice ("lumpy").

Was going to post a pic of me & Cinders in The Fingers, but (happily) no point now.
The "second" chute, that has the rock leaning over it, was skiing great.
The exit was the easiest I remember. No ice/waterfalls to get around.
The "first" chute, the straight one, was pretty crappy though.

Starting to think about changing plans from KW to Heavenly tomorrow to avoid lines. Sage, or stupid idea?

Go to kirkwood unless your girl is a strong skier if the death star comes out and manks up the 15 inches or so out at cpsr she may not be your girl any more, just saying.

Also looks like from the snowtels Echo got just as much if not more than Carson SAT will probably deliver to those who bring Skins today,

Fuck you Vail for closing Heavenly and causing this fucking shitshow at Kirkwood with every lot full by 9 AM, and half the mountain closed. Fuck you very much.

Perfect example of the problems Vail has created for KW. The keep talking about all the improvements that have happened. But nothing to improve lifts or parking, and every time it snows, Vail pass owners show up at the wood and create a shitshow, but they still have not figured out how to attract customers the other 95% of days and the place is a ghost town. Maybe actually investing in lifts and infrastructure live they have at Heave/N*. Or just go away and keep the good days for KW pass holders and ticket buyers. Oh well.

More importantly, is the boundary closed today? Hoping so. I'd like to do some lift served tomorrow with a touch of side country and then planning to meet whatsupdoc early morning at CP to try torturing my feet in new boots.

I was blacked out today (by life) so could not make it up there for the powder day. Not too sad seeing how much of a rat race must be going on up there. Tuesday looked like the day.

Kirkwood didn't disappoint today. Got tracked out super fast but stayed light most of the morning. April 26... more like December 26.

Access opened at KW today. Funny thing, a ton if cars, not a ton of people. It's like everyone showed up solo.
