Hey - anyone have the detailed scoop on the accidents & slides near/at Stevens that have been reported in the media in the usual vague manner? Sounds like some non-fatal, but nasty stuff....
Also, how'd Stevens actually ski today?
Stevens skied well today. Wind buff everywhere shits getting filled in nicely.
Didn't hear anything about avalanches or accidents. Kinda overheard some locals talking about a patroller going for a rough ride
god created man. winchester and baseball bats made them equal - evel kenievel
Anybody ski mission ridge today? I'm thinking about heading up tomorrow, but want to make sure the 3 hour drive is worthwhile.
Tue was windblown consolidated fucked cream cheese report said 17" in 24hr but felt like 8" with crust... some aspects held good snow, but weather was mild and the sun was out so it was fun. Heard vague reports of son and dad injured off "big cheif" but detials are scarce. Wednesday was wet. Pissing rain and high winds on the drive up around 745 had me doubting for a min. By the time we were booting up in the lot the snow was wintry mix/wet fart. Backside was closed along with 7th. Skies cleared out around 12 and you could see all the natty slides off cowboy, ended up lapping hogs and i forgot how fun it can be when there is no line. Looking forward to avoiding the jongs over the weekend. Should be back out on tue and wed at misson for demo days!
Have fun and stay safe
Peace

Thanks Aaron, I'll be there today. In blue pants, black jacket on OG ON3P BGs
Much of Stevens front side skied really nicely today. We hit the odd bit of wind slab and the odd sheet ice/crust layer just under the surface - but it was mostly ankle to shin deep nice powdery snow, especially in wind sheltered areas where the snow deposited nicely. Things were getting warmer, heavier, a bit cut up and in a place or two, a bit more wind slabbed in the area we were in around noon, so we called it. Figured it was better to leave with great memories of lots of smooth untracked snow. And in my case, an intact and happy knee - being 10.5 months post ACL rebuild.... All in all, the mountain was not pounded all that hard, and there were skill lots of fresh pockets when we left.
NWAC has a report up regarding the slide just OB in Big Chief Bowl. I'm still curious if anyone has the scoop on the other reported incident(s) from earlier in the week.
For those who knew Jake there'll be a little gathering at Padden at 2 on Sunday. If you knew him or know those that did, spread the word.
Stay safe this weekend.
Anybody headed to Stevens tonight? I'll be in a bright green jacket/aqua green pants (Mountain Equipment, of course), w/vulcans and carbon lhasas. Say howdy and lets ride some pow.
Spent the last two days at crystal and its skiing pretty good. i will be there for the next two days in orange jacket and blue pants on renegades (orange raven top sheets) holler if you see me and want to ski a lap.

I can smell it
Can any one give me and my skis a ride from Stevens to Leavenworth Monday evening? 4 to 6ish, I'll kick in some gas/beer money.
Crystal on Sunday 2/16/14 was good, but crowded. Sometime between 1pm and 2pm, the High Campbell Chair derailed and stopped for the day. With the monsters storm rolling in, ski patrol started doing rope rescues to get everyone off the chair. It was a full-on blizzard by the time they got the last people off at 3:30pm.
I watched ski patrol boot pack through waist-deep pow straight up campbell basin beneath the chair - exhausting. Crystal's pro-patrol earned their keep on Sunday. Say thanks if you see 'em.
Deluge of holy fuck today's gonna rule texts at 5 am while I am stuck in Silicon Valley hell. Xstal blvd closed = schadenfreude.
Made it all the way to Crystal Boulevard this morning before getting turned around. Frustrating, but oh well.
