Had a fun time ripping Stevens today. Best laps were early. Had some awesome face shots. Left at 11 and at the office to unsuspecting coworkers by 12:45 to make FaceTime with the boss. Fun day! Sure was popular at 8:30 for a Monday in March...
Keep snowing!
Ya brah! Got the goods this morn at Stevens. Got heavy duty after a couple hours. Get cold you motha bitch!!
some creamy chowder at baker this am. if only it was a few degrees cooler
Shroom good skiing with ya yesterday!
How big were the charges that went off at Baker yesterday? Sounded/felt like 50lbs.
Stevens was great yesterday AM and from the looks of it, it's probably still good today. Nabbed first tracks beneath Jupiter Express and banged out a hat trick of laps down the backside before the "crowd" showed up. Will be interested to hear bobby's report from the padded seats for today...
Snow level's on a bit of a roller coaster ride this week... but at least it's precipitating!
After lurking around here for the past few weeks, it looks like the right call was made to go to Stevens. Heading out next week to break my PNW cherry with another mag. Were only spending 3 days at Stevens and thinking of driving to alpy, and baker. Hoping to get some input from you local mags to see if we're doing it right.
Too far out to tell, but next week is showing signs of promise. There's a chance the reset button was exposed on our sketchier-than-usual snowpack and it looks like the freezing/snow levels will be back to a more acceptable elevation at least for the early part of next week.
3 days at Stevens is plenty, esp. if it isn't stacking much. Alpental can be great, but it can also be terribad. Baker's probably your best bet right now.
Mr. NmbrdDays, skiing in the PNW requires flexibility. Enjoy your trip and I hope the weather cooperates.

Fingers are crossed that we might get blessed with a nice storm while were in town. We get out next sat and head straight to Stevens and spend a few days in Leavenworth. After that we were going to just see how the weather behaves and go from there. If all else fails I hear there's some really good breweries in Seattle. Thanks for the advice guys, looking fwd to getting out there. Always down to link up for some, turns, beers, and safety meetings.
If you're staying in Leavenworth and have touring gear, I suggest contacting North Cascades Mountain Guides. They do stuff east of the Crest and off Hwy 20.

Flowing apply, if the flexibility makes it so we'll see you at alpy! We are bringing our touring gear with us, thanks for the heads up, I'll do some hw this week.
Crustal skied super well: (****)/(****) four flake day with only patrol tracks in Nickel Kitty and Emp Housing. Schmooey at the bottom, soft and sparkly on top but hey, first really good ripping day up there this year for me.
Good seeing Norseman and Oftpiste out there...

If there is any snow left it will most likely be on top of a PWL from early january. You'll die in a catastrophic avalanche if you go.

Make sure to check turns-all -year.com before you go.

I check turns all year, but since i don't know the area, most reports have mystifying names, and it takes forever to look them on the map.
Hopefully i'll learn.
I would go in may, but my wife whants to climb el cap in early/mid may, so june it is.

Stevens slid alright today. Patches of blue and filtered sunshine greeted us this morning and despite a late arrival due to someone not springing forward, we hammered out plenty of soft groomer laps before taking it to the park for the afternoon. Stevens builds a rhythm line unlike anywhere else - it's currently at 10 medium-sized hits (11 if yr ambitious up top). Couple showers blew through in the afternoon, which provided a nice set of breaks for our tired legs. Drive home was a breeze as there wasn't really anybody on the hill. Rode right on the chair all day. Hogs has a mini pond in front of its RFID gate which is good for training for springfest.
Another large result on the Employee Housing path at Mt Dweebus:
I was surprised it didn't slide Friday. It was rollerballing pretty well.
Any results up in Northway?

I haven't heard of anything big moving recently in the Northway zone. But when I was riding the lift Friday, I watched three skiers cut across the steep face below C gate, each of them starting point-release hissers. The first one went nearly to the return groomer and could have fucked someone up in the trees pretty well.
