There was a sick bootpack/skintrack on the arm today. Straight up Palm tree ridge, over to underneath pyramid and out below heli drop, finally skiing down to a cliffout on supertube

^^Got a pic? It's hard to picture when I only know two of the names you're using for landmarks.

A group of two, one skinner and one bootpacker, left a track starting with a bootpack straight out of Oy to the left side of this picture where its dense young trees out of the valley, weaving across this one, and ending up transitioning at the left edge of this one to ride the skiers right side of supertube, which has a sweet ice waterfall in it at the moment, that they got stuck above.

That sounds like some A1 routefinding up and down. Wow.

Mr. Bearded Clam, did you put that site together?

GC, No I didn't make that one, but its one of the examples from previous years for the GIS minor through Huxley which I'm working through. This link is Graham's one from way back.
Skied Steven's on Saturday, got there early and scored close in parking, and hit the lifts at open.
For the most part lines weren't really much of an issue.
I think Hogsback had the worst lines of the day, everything else flowed pretty quick.
We skied nearly everything that was open including 7th heaven, which all things considered skied pretty good.
Anything South facing had a crust under the 2~3" of new.
They have decent coverage (read, rocks are few and far between and there's no dirt visible).
Getting there early is key, skiing the margins the most rewarding.
Spent a few days back in your guys' neck of the woods. All I have to say is: I'm sorry.
Looking like october:

That last shot is what Crystal felt like Saturday skiing with my kids. A character-building few hours of learning the art of sideslipping.
Night skiing at Stevens tonight was surprisingly fun. Firm with soft piles of sugar snow on the edge. Starting to get rocky in high traffic spots on the groomers. Off piste is really really hard bumps with deep troughs and inconsistent lines through them. Snow about 1/2 inch of snow.
We need more snow, badly.
First day of the season for me at stevens today. Can confirm what levenworth skier says. Wondered why nobody was skiing of southern cross. Tried and quickly found out why. Snow is rock hard refrozen crap. True masochism. Groomers during the day were slushy/sugary but filled with gapers. Not a good skiing day but a good day of skiing.
Any recent Baker beta? Headed up to a long-ago booked cabin with friends and family tomorrow. Will be with the kids; likely confined to chair 8. Just wondering what to expect. Forecast is for rain. Awesome.

NWS is calling for 9-13 inches at 5kft for Thursday night. The base is about 3800ft and calling for 3 to 7 inches, so you might have a holiday miracle at hand for Friday morning. You must be a good luck charm. Now please book for a week at Whistler on Jan 24th.
This is sad to get excited about the next two days' weather. Just sad. Something is better than nothing I guess.
Thanks! I must have been looking at the wrong station. At least the girls will have a chance to recover from their Saturday icecapades.
Has anyone be to Mission Ridge recently? Is it worth making the drive from Seattle for the groomers?

Not worth the drive unless you're desperate to make some turns. I was up on Monday and it was actually pretty good; temps in the mid to upper 30's so the snow had a spring feel. Sugary and easy to carve up, but the limited amount of open terrain on the mountain gets boring pretty quickly.
Chair 1 is a little bony
Fair coverage up in the basin
Breakable crust above Chair 3 not worth hiking to
