They're good folks and fun to play with and I actually think it's kind of funny. I'm up $2 just in the last week by betting them they are wrong. "Gee, I'm sure that I don't know all the rules but that sounds odd. Bet you a buck it's not a rule" I say with a smile. The wife comes home from her Ladies club golf with the same funny rules stories.

Awesome. The Country club of Fairfield had a Coyote family living on it for years. Sit right on the edge of the green while you were putting. Keep in mind this is a busy burb of NYC on the LI sound. Very surreal.

I saw a coyote at Harborside (my new go-to course) on Chicago's southside a week or so ago, just trotting along the fairway. A few holes later, remnants of a goose. All the thrills of Yellowstone, without leaving the city.

i've seen a fox a couple times at redtail. i don't know if they have coyote or not but i've been there several times at dusk when one thing yelps in the distance followed by several minutes of howling and barking and yelping from all around me at various distances. a lot of dogs and who knows what else. i'm usually around 15-16-17 and i get chills regardless of how sucky my game may be at that point.

been practicing a flop shot which has been going better than expected. i have 20 yards in my little practice area marked off every 5 yards with flags and i also have a net that's about 7 feet tall when it's stuck in the ground that i have about 4 feet in front of the edge of the mat so it's just far enough i don't hit it with my follow through with a 3H. i was getting pretty consistent yesterday with a 60 degree wedge of flopping a good 20' in the air and landing in 10 yards. i'm getting pretty consistent with a pitch that carries 15 yards as well. unfortunately, i haven't gone anywhere i can practice longer chips and pitches and get a sense of the run distances. i think that's part of the reason i have become pretty dependent on my 60 degree wedge because i'm not confident on longer rolls yet.

okay maybe 15-20' in the air. read a short article by adam scott on flopping and it made sense and worked a lot better than what i'd tried previously.

Anybody else walked away for a while?

Saw PGA tour pro Jonathan Kaye at the course I was at today. Cool dude, I did not go all groupie, as he was giving a lesson the their teaching pro. I liked that kid's playing, hoping for a comeback.

Flop Shot. I practice and use it a lot. Hit one over 15'-20' trees from 10 paces back to a green 5 paces past. Got some applause from the foursome on the tee behind me. Another time while practicing at home I bladed it and took out the headlight of a passing Camaro.

    Went par-eagle-doublebog-bogie to finish out a 38 for tonight's 9.

i've come close to taking out my own headlight and front house window. congrats on the eagle. i've never come close to having an opportunity for one.

i'm finally understanding playing the hole backward from the green to the tee as well. now that i've got 'some' consistency at a short distance with my wedges i'm more comfortable hitting clubs without necessarily feeling like i need to get on the green if it makes more sense to hit a more reliable iron and then wedge to the green. and actually trying to put it below the hole. or not needing to hit driver now that i'm getting some fairly consistent distance and direction with my 3H and 4H. because i know i can hit two of them and a wedge if i need to.

Just played yesterday for the first time in about 2 years. Played like it too... Hit maybe 5 good shots and maybe a dozen decent ones, and about 200 others. All that bs was erased though when I stepped up to the 18th tee and hit the longest drive I've ever hit. The situation had everything going for it - elevated tee box, slightly downhill fairway, just a touch of tail wind (although I hit a 8 degree driver and it isn't very wind effected)... 366 yards, dead center of the fairway. 516 yard par 5, and I was over the green in 2 when I hit my 6 iron too flat from 150 out. Never did anything like that before... I did uncork one for about 330 a couple of years ago, but that was at 10,500' in Breck - I figured that didn't count. This was at about 7500' - certainly not sea level either. But I don't care - I'm taking it.

Got my full iron play tightened up and my short iron play is solid right now. Driving still meh and putting worse than horrific. I got one of these and so far it's helping. When set up right I literally drill 50 putts in a row from 15 feet and the inside down the line stroke feels right.

Ah, Harborside. The native grasses still hold many of my errant Pro V1x's. Those were the days.

Played the U of Notre Dame's course over the weekend--Warren Golf Course. Right in South Bend. Really sweet track--mix of hardwoods and links elements (some deeeep pots), nice elevation changes, interesting holes. Def. worth playing if you're ever in the area looking to play some golf.

Got one of these and it's not a magic wand but I like it:

Nice...I had a few busy weeks, only got out once a week and I was dying.

Tournament season starts this Friday with my member/guest...passed up a 4 day trip to Pinehurst to play in it. Golf has definitely taken priority over training or the Donner Tri.

I'm off to Michigan Friday. Arcadia Bluffs Saturday and Sunday and then Boyne courses Mon-Thurs. I'll practice and play tomorrow then short game and putt on Thursday and rest Friday.

Anybody tried optishot or the p3 proswing? I'd never heard of them but played with a couple on Sunday who have one in their basement and adore it. The guy had a beautiful towering ball flight and the first lefty I've played with. It was odd but he had a sweet swing.

Kill one of those Boyne rounds and hit Forest Dunes in Roscommon. You're welcome. Also, see if you can snake your way onto Kingsley Club.

All pre-booked. No complaints on the Boyne courses. The Hills and Ross are outstanding.

78 today and putted poorly. Tee to green game very solid right now which has always been my strength.

I played by far the best I ever have. Struck the ball better and more consistently by far than I ever have. It was all there right in front of me.

This is the self inflicted brutality I enjoyed this morning at heron lakes great blue.

    5 5 4 3 5 6 6 6 9 : 49
    5 4 7 4 5 4 7 7 10: 53

    102

    5 pars including 4 in a row, 5 bogeys, 4 doubles.

I could have just as easily shot 95. I got a few unlucky bounces and compounded at least one with poor decision making and of course an enormous choke. I was standing at the 9th tee with 40. 17th tee with 43.
