Made my first eagle of the season. Shitty swings mostly, but the game is coming back after a few years of major neglect. Hardest game in the world.

The key was in the first few minutes when he said "You want it to feel like". The game for me is to match the correct "feel like" with the malady of the day on the days there is an issue. I can more easily wrap my head around striving for a feeling than trying to mimic any body position.

Got a slow start to the season (despite it being on here for 4 months... doh!) but got out at Eastlake GC (home of the Tour Championship) recently and watched my teaching pro buddies drop 74s and under on my 89. I still left with my head held high.

I'm debating trying some new irons but I really don't think they've improved on my Titleist 762's. Any recs for something that I might try? I've upgraded the woods about every two years and I know there are things to be gained from improvements in technology (and yardage) but the irons... I just don't know.

It is pretty sweet. There's some holes where I can't fathom how Tour players get the approach in there with the pin placements they have. Druid is next up on my hit list, heading there for an Emory Law event later in the summer.

Course was fantastic when i was there in...errr...'02. Can't recall the conditioning, but the layout and setting were spectacular. Couple hundred acres carved out of the middle of the couple thousand acre Olympic steeplechase/equestrian grounds.

Sweet, I'll have to give that one a go in the near future; I see it's an Arnie track too. I saw they recently completely redid the Charley Yates short course at Eastlake when I was there, I'll have to give 'er a go too.

Didn't realize that's where the steeplechase was during the Olympics, the address makes sense now.

shot a 44 on the front 9 at Foster in Tukwila this afternoon. i should definitely be closer to 40 on that course, at least later in the summer. one triple on a simple par 4 got the best of me, but i did end the round sinking a put ~30 feet for bird. that was sweet. great day to get out of the office early in seattle.

that's a shorty, but still a fun course. I think the smallish greens make up for the lack of distance and keep it challenging.

Huh, I had no clue Kuch used graphite shafts on his irons.

When I grew up I used them but have never looked back since my first set of DCIs with true tempers.

played 10 holes yesterday supertwilight (with cart, $21 at redtail). such a good deal if you don't have a bunch of dumbass portland state football players in front of you. so out of the 10 holes i was able to finish, i had:

1 par
5 bogeys
3 doubles
1 quad.

lipped out a couple puts or it would have been better.

last week i played the same ball for 14 holes i think, which is definitely a record at redtail for me with the deep rough and lots of water.

i feel like i'm right there to break 100 by more than a stroke or two. i've shot 49, a couple 50/51/52 on the front but i fall apart on the back.

oh yeah, when the football players cut from 10 to 18 right when i was finishing 17, they asked me if i wanted to join them on the last hole, which i did reluctantly but it was getting late and outdrove them all by 10 yards. right down the middle. little fat old me. of course, it is psu. they're probably using roids from the 90s.

Think I need work on short game much? I'm the proverbial guy on golfwrx who says: "I can use player's clubs because my ball striking is pretty good. My short game is holding me back."

Last week it was picking up a flag stick placed on the green while a ball is in motion (You can). This weeks golf Rule That is Not a Rule. "You can't hold the flag stick yourself if you are tapping in." Sorry, see Decision 17-1/5. Had to go home and look it up.

Here is a bit of a parallel example of the strangeness of clubs/mens; in many private clubs ( Scotland I know this is true , not sure about any here in the States, but I just assume), you have to be invited to join. This often means you have to play with ALL the members of that club's committee, plus get the blessing of the president of the committee. The unwritten rules sometimes are the most important, i guess. As in life, many things in golf are the same. Maybe the golf gods are telling you to find a different game, or time, or who knows......
