Hoping thing are gnarly this time next week.
Winter's is especially good when you're gliding up to it as the rope drops with three feet of fresh snowFrom what I understand this storm was unusual for the Loaf for any number of reasons, most notably the absence of wind. Hasn't been a breeze in the two days we've been here (that may change tomorrow) so the snow fell straight down and covered the trails wall to wall. Have been hoping to make this trek for more than thirty years and it's been so much better than advertised. The new snow helps, sure, but this is a big, burly mountain that every EC skier should experience. Can I use cut and paste to copy this post on Alpine Zone?
Just read some of the comments through, thanks for the kind words all. And Roje I think you are pure stoke as well dood. We are just misunderstood is all
VTF- I remember that moment of me sliding past you as well and thinking "is VTF going to be last person I see on earth?", But then I saw ML242 and TWD at around 40mph a little further down
Here is another of Moughoul enjoying teh deepness, about 6" new on Madonna this morning, on top of the old unconsolidated snow from previous day.

TC, TWD, esales that was some nice stoke, butt that there is some fine fine stoke. A top 5 photo Greg and I think I have seen all you have put out
Ok everyone, pour a little out for Ullr tonight. It appears the rain snow line is drifting south for Friday's storm, we just need to have Ullr nudge that line a a bit further South.
Hello interwebs-- long time, first time. I'll be driving north in the early hours of Saturday, chasing the season's first dawn patrol somewhere, the question is where... MRG is looking ripe for Saturday. Sugarloaf will still be in. Anyone chancing it and staying further south? dare I say... (stratton?)
Btw- GP, that shot is money. Er, a money shot. I mean. I like your photo

too funny Bottleman, rode the lift with you twice today, reading the last few pages of this thread reminds me of our chat about people todayMy buddy showed you the cut from choker to get back to the Skyline lift. Come back soon, you Mad River folks are good luck.
Cheers!
will saddleback and the loaf be nice again on saturday morning after a 6 plus refresher tomorrow into the evening and some HEAVY wind?
^^^I would check the weather forcast closely. I think Northern VT on the spine might have the coldest air throughout the precip time period.
Funny indeed! Great to spend some time on the hill together - my gut tells me we'll be seeing you tomorrow as wellAnd yes, there's a good reason not to like most people

Lots of great people at the Loaf though - met your buddy W and his wife yesterday AM (third chair if you don't mind a brag) and they are great people, as evidenced by by giving us a few good hints as to where to go. Will be on the lookout for you and the 138s tomorrow.
the upslope in vermont would be nice, but noaa is prediciting this for sugarlof....http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...31112670898438 (4-8 tomorrow, 2-4 tomorrow night)
I'm probably heading up somewhere tomorrow night from MA - either the Loaf or Smuggs, to ski Saturday. We shall see who gets the coldest air.
Just got back from 2 days at Sugarloaf, my first time up there and it was fkna awesome. Sorry for the massive pictures. Crowds were very minimal, Wednesday the power was out for most of the morning and they only had two lifts running. Still plenty out there!!!

No real basis for comparison but it was basically a ski right onto the lift day so it seemed pretty empty to me. I'm sure that there's still untracked lines if you know where to look but the trails are skiing so phenomenally well (not a slick spot in sight) I didn't go hunting. Seems like a longshot to me but there was lots of chatter about the possibility of opening the snowfields tomorrow. That would not suck.
