the loaf was quite fun yesterday. So much fun that I actually didn't take the camera out until the last run of the day. Skied the RPC and it was kick ass as expected. Put a pretty gnarly battle scar in the base but definitely worth it. Here is one of the 5 pics I took yesterday.

GP: Sick! Lifts open at 9. Traffic should be terrible in the AM. Mont Garceau is the other option in the neighbourhood. I've never skied the "catski" run down the backside of la reserve but it could be doable if the snow is thick enough. Pack skins!

Massif de Sud: Not as much snow as north of the river, but for sure the most snow on the south shore. Opens friday for the season

La Réserve...the only place other than in Europe where my wife skied and I never didn't.

There was a memorable university circuit party hosted by McGill back in 1987 when we were racing at Garceau. Toga + electric jello + beans = food fight and ... let just say it was ugly with a huge repair bill.

Also walk on the slope with a hangover on the side of a Dual race back at this Finals in 1992. First two days were at Garceau.

    1) The problem is that Ottawa-St.Donat is not an easy drive

    2) Staying local, which is going as good anywhere except Charlevoix.
    Odds of 18 inches...between 20-40%http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/pwpf_48...122012f048.gif

    3) Chaos tomorrow as the school Christmas show at my daughter grade school. Not sure what is going to happen if half the school won't show up if the yellow buses aren't running? Plus my wife needs the car a few things.

    4) Work...no problem..I can call off.

MDS is a long drive from MTL when its should be real good up North in the snowbelt. Tremblant is beyond the snowbelt; they have the vert, but less snow. The snowbelt has unfortunately no real verts, but can be fun. La Réserve definitely has fun terrain (although I've never skied there).

Another nice day at Smuggs with TC and TWD, legs are fully cooked after today's session Thanks to both for showing me around a bit. First full frontal ejection this AM is checked off the list. Just read thru the past few pages of rude interruption of the stokeathon and realized we are in the presence of a rare breed indeed. A little cock that posts like a cunt and is actually just an asshole. Golf claps for that accomplishment. When we tell you to go fuck yourself, you take it literally. I guess that's a skill.

Maine has been killing it the last few days. Water still warm, huge waves - had to try to catch inside waves because the set waves were too much for my terrible surfing. Was a bit bummed not to be heading to Saddleback today, but surfing is the nearest substitute I've found.

Never been in the "kingdom", but I would have to choose of one area, I would say go to Mt Edouard. They got a good amount of snow and have the type of terrain that I believe you would like. Le Valinouet is another place, but flatter.

Of the Quebec ski areas I've never skied, le Mont Edouard is at the top of the list:

    1) Edouard

    The others would be...

    La Réserve
    Massif du Sud
    Pin Rouge
    Miller
    Valinouet

    Section 31:

Massif got 85cm in 24hrs, but only had 14 out of 52 open yesterday. Massif isn't like places in Vermont, ropes take time to fall. I've read that they got a possible rain crust..that was my experience storm chasing a few Februarys ago.

damn, Quebec is sounding very tempting, only 8.5 each way for me, that's better than what the wva storm chasers did...

they also measure from the top. i've seen them claim 20cm fresh when the bottom webcam shows an obvious 2 or 3 cm

edit: not that it's the case this time, i'm sure a trip to the charlevoix would be worthwhile

ya man, been quite good. a coupla waves were as gratifying as the best of pow days in totality.

can't get enough. waves are just so damn dynamic compared to something stationary.

it continues. tomorrow may be a blown out mess, but saturday should be great for more northerly facing breaks like in mass and a couple in maine. sunday should be playfully fun as well.

keep at it daily. specially in winter. it's easy to stay home in comfy warm. the days of snowing sideways head+ temps near zero, and no surfers around are coming

Great to hear all the reports of everyone enjoying this WX shift on the EC. Lynch I am sure the Loaf was nuts. Thats great you got out there.

Great getting out with Moughoul and TWD. Woke up to 3" of new again at my house so I knew Smuggs got nuked last night. I guess the aspect really helped us on this. It just keeps getting better in North VT. Everything is really filled in, HA rode a great tree spot on the mountain and reported 2 feet in there. That sounds right on, judging by how deep we skied a similar aspect today. Another 12" and the whole mountain will be in play.

Here are a few pics from today to offset me arguing with some guy on the internet last night

    TWD tearing it up again
