you haven't trained on a treadmill with weight on your back? Seriously, good on him for training... Now the not being able to get in his own ski thing and 2 gopros.... hilarious.....
Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care

Just noticed that although he has the same backpack and shovel, he's using different skis on the stairmaster than at Snowbird, right?

Perhaps he has a pair of stairmaster skis, or perhaps the other skis are off getting the bindings adjusted, but I think his training is going to be thrown off if he doesn't use exactly the same kit on the stairmaster, including helmet, Gopros, and skis.

What I really want to know is if he is wearing his ski boots on the stairmaster.

For the record, I am a Gaper, and that's why I'm so interested. I need tips from the Master.

Not a quote, but I saw a guy this weekend with MFD All-Time plates and Salomon STH12's (with Z-toe!) mounted on them.
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

Went to Lost Trail yesterday. Not too many gapers. Only 1 or 2 GoPros. No lift lines. Only saw 1 butt flap beaver tail thing.
Only "wow those skis are huge" I got was from my snowboarding buddy.
    yay Montana!

The Gaper Spirit Animal is fleeting and only caught in glimpses.

Walked out of the bar tonight in Steamboat and after 3 ft of snow the last 2 days and it continuing to snow like a mother fucker and I heard a Gaper utter words that have never entered my mind. He actually said: "I wish it would stop snowing already"
Do people really think like that?

Early January at Sunlight, middle of the snow drought, mountain is rocking a 21" base and has had no snow at all for 3 full weeks

I catch a lift with a kid about 19 years old, skiing early 1190's 170ish straight skis, almost certainly with one of the Midwest church groups that come through, bless their hearts.

He tells me "I'm a pretty good skier, but I have old skis, not those new permetex skis. My skis don't work in all of this powder."

I'm not big on labelling people gapers, and am usually pretty happy to answer the "how do you like them newfangled fat skis" questions. I appreciate almost anybody that is excited about the sport.

But I could do nothing but stare at him for the rest of the chair ride. I had no idea where to begin with that gem.

Of course, he almost falls coming off the lift, and proceeds to demonstrate he is overmatched by the bunny slope...

My favorite is when the beaters come from skiing to the cafe to get a burger and GoPro my ass makin' their food. Then I'm like "hey I want royalties on your XTREME eating gopro show." They quickly realize they forgot the thing recording their piss in the bathroom and take their helmet off to turn off the GoPro, then they drop the helmet and scratch their $600 Zeal GPS speedometer goggles. It's classic. Happens 3 times a week minimum.

Also I love skiing up to clusters of middle aged men talking over their huge game plan about how to get to the bottom of the mountain on the groomers. I just yell "send it pusssies" as I pop over the roller that they are assembled on top of for their gopro shots. I hate beaters....

A friend and I are heading up to Jackson Hole for the first time. Any info on what parts of the mountain to ski in different conditions? Are the crags worth the hike? What areas should I avoid (areas that get tracked out quickly)? Maybe these are dumb questions, but any info would be great!

The Gaper Spirit Animal should not be disturbed in its natural habitat. We can only observe from afar; for as soon as we, the observers, have been discovered, the Gaper Spirit Animal may disappear into the abyss and never be seen again. Hopefully the story doesn't end here . . .
I suggest a baited camera--like they use around here to get pictures of the wolverine. The question is, what to use for bait?

The Gaper Spirit Animal rules. So I came from that biz and still have a relationship at MGS. I need to know more so inquiries have been made.....very discretely. OMG I dont know weather to laugh at that guy or feel sorry for him.
