I'll be hitting Eldora also Sunday. Haters got to hate but it's a fun place to hit up on good snow
the area around west ridge has some nice terrain and also some nice lift accessible side country...the haters can hate when they're all stuck like jongs going up i-70 to ski crowded resorts

THE BEST DYNAMICS MOVE ACROSS THE
AREA DURING THE EVENING AS THE TROUGH AXIS PASSES OVERHEAD. THE
COLD POOL ALOFT FOLLOWS DURING THE LATE-NIGHT PERIOD FOR CONTINUED
GOOD INSTABILITY KEEPING WIDESPREAD SNOW ON-GOING. FOR THIS
FORECAST I HAVE GENERALLY UPPED THE POPS INTO THE CATEGORICAL
RANGE FOR THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS...WITH LIKELY POPS FOR MANY OF THE
    VALLEYS.
Cmon ullr, you got this one on lock.

nothing open on the north side of the t bar. horseshoe is filled in pretty good, although I went hard skiers left to get to some hucks which the entrance was super grassy and patchy. The burn was actually closed I just happened to end up in it from another run but it was good coverage, only a few log hops needed.

tbar didn't suck. watch for rocks at the bottom when your mach-ing down. they are there.

contest was good. joker rock is getting goooood. it sure is nice to have big winds and high altitude when it's warm everywhere else. can turn 5" into a lot of fun. (twss)

will be exploring that vail mountain thingy this weekend.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

Thanks for the kind words about the Powder article. Indeed it was a "boobs deep" day at Steamboat - that I missed - that started Colorado Powder Forecast and now OpenSnow.

Also, don't discount Tuesday morning powder. I think amounts will be bigger on Sunday AM, but the underneath surface might limit the fun. With a soft surface, the new snow on Monday night make make Tuesday AM verrry nice.

no freeze here again ....super warm and super wet outside.

Today and Saturday look like mid 40s again until the cold front comes thru....Rain below 9k maybe on Sat. Can't help but think "what if" with this week. If only it was cold....oh well.

Highland bowl almost always has the best snow in the valley. But it takes about an hour RT.
Aspen Mt. skis better with a thin base than any of the others and I think it has better lines.

Thx..think Highlands is the call, we both love the place. So most of the bowl is open? What about Oly? I'd imagine Teremirity is baked and thin?

On Saturday, I'd do Ajax. Highlands doesn't have enough good skiing right now. Most of the bowl is not open and Steeplechase and Oly are very thin.

The only thing you have there is Hanging Valley... fun, but short and a long lap. (Coming from someone who skis Snowmass <5 days a year)

It's been snowing most of the day in Breck and fairly heavy at times. I may have to go see how the knee feels tomorrow. 6 Chair opened today.

I'm tempted to ski Breck tomorrow but I'm scared to death of the potential crowds and I don't ski Breck but maybe once a year so I don't really know the mountain that well. Peak 7 is the gnar right

everybody has been upgraded to a warning but Junction hasn't updated the discussion yet.

6 chair opening was SICK. everyone went skiers right which was rocky but directly under the chair I got tons of faceshots. Now is the time to start ducking ropes, rocks are for the most part covered just some log hops.

Last time I went to Breck the punishment was to wait in a line of cars 30 minutes long at 7:45 AM, to the the SINGLE guy in a booth $5 for parking, not like upscale Vail where you pay AFTER skiing. Anyhow, I'm clueless on where to park in Breck and probably would take a bus or something next time.

breck is a weekday place to me. It does have some great terrain that people usually overlook and knock just for the sake of knocking it, but the weekends are a shitshow. Add in the slow ride in from 70 and that's a deal breaker. Vail might not be much better, but at least it's bigger and easier to go lose yourself SLIGHTLY away from the crowds. That's my sticking point for weekend skiing.

took a couple runs today, snowed all day, probably 3"+ good heavy snow, me likes. and the knuckle heads who want to go to the thin areas can push that heavy snow onto some rocks.

Half the shitshow at Breck is just getting to the mountain and parking. Taking those variables out of the equation makes it's much more tolerable for sure.

everybody be careful out there this weekend, whether you're hitting backcountry or driving up I-70, either one could be dangerous.
