Thanks for the report, maybe a last minute decision. I might try on some boots while I'm there though, what shops would be best to check out for AT boots?

Cool, thanks man. The In-laws live there and just talked to them, sounds like there might be a place in Fraser. If not I'll PM Montanagirl.

Good stats on snowfall and La Nina. Remember:

    1) Long range forecasts suck. Period.

    2) Climate "patterns" are interesting to talk about (ENSO, AO, MJO), but they are not directly responsible for powder days. "The Next Storm" brings powder days. Period.

    3) I hate making long range predictions, but when I get paid to write a few articles with "my best effort" forecast, that's what I do. The articles are as honest as I can make them...with the caveat that long range forecasts suck.

    4) The storm on Fri/Sat has the signs that it will split, just like the last 1,783 storms.

Regards from Grand Targhee, where it's windy as all get up, but at least flakes are falling. Should be a nice day tomorrow. Not trying to rub it in at all...just excited to actually see snow!

Same in Silverthorne. Can't see across the back yard. Hoping that some of this snow gets deposited somewhere locally.

wow, looks like i70 closed near georgetown now, that sucks. figured it had to be super windy out near the front range since it's even windy here in CB.

The 8-14 actually looks decent, but after hearing "it'll be better in two weeks" for two months now, I'll believe it when I ski it.

    Happy new year all.

I remember a few years ago when a similar race started from the post...

Then, all hell broke loose (especially in S. Colorado), the Front Rage shitshow showed up, there were fights in the lift lines and douche bags who couldn't read in the ticket lines (hmmm, season pass only, wonder what that means and whether I can use my credit card in this line).

That said, the snow in S. Colorado is shitty as all hell. Hardly any left.

supposed to be highs in the 40s + plenty of sun next week. Just when you think it couldn't get worse, it does.

My roofs gonna melt today and I won't have to pay to have the roofer$ to chip ice this year. /blog

In other news, the drought is becoming dire (as I tried to deny, but Montanaskier was right) and I'm starting to think about flame retardant foam for my house instead of powder days It has been 10 years since the 2001/2002 drought and we may be due for a dry spell.

Do I hear the next storm may split flow... time to think of better sacrifices or prayers.
