interesting article in the Daily today about how VR can pull from Gore Creek and the Eagle River as long as stream flows don't go below a certain level and they can also pull from their res. I'll try to find a link.

Scott- The Beav is like everywhere else right now....firm to quite firm.

at least it's steep with soft snow. you might hit a couple rocks, but coverage is not terrible all things considered...

That's actually better news than I expected! Thanks for the heads up. I will probably take a couple of hikes up there!!!

    Holy BUTTHURT!!

Seriously man, take that back. You know it is still only January 6th, right? I know it is starting to feel like spring and seems like it's the end of March, but we still have 15 weeks before Vail closes. I'd say that's enough time to get the back open.

January 2010 sucked, and this year is way worse than it was then. Time for Keystone to get the bike park open and rent out some fatbikes.

BEYOND THE 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE LOWERS. NEXT WEEKEND THE EC
HAS ANOTHER TROUGH PASSAGE WHILE THE GFS HANGS ONTO A RIDGE. BUT
EARLY NEXT WEEK THE GFS HAS CONSISTENTLY PRODUCED A FLATTER FLOW
ALOFT AND COLDER TEMPERATURES FOR THE REGION. SO THERE ARE HIGHLY
UNCERTAIN HINTS OF A PATTERN CHANGE NEXT WEEK...WISHFUL THINKING AT
    THIS POINT.

Oh come on, the back bowls don't need that much and they're probably better off starting with no snow rather than a few inches of rotten crap. The steeps of Crested Butte, on the other hand- if it ever does snow it's all going to slide to the ground, and we'll have to start over, so we need a major cycle to get much other than the headwall and NF glades open this year, IMO.

Hoping NOAA's forecast for CB is more accurate than Joel's on this storm... W flow so there's hope.

That year, one, maybe two areas had snow making. Lotta money got spent on SM after that.
And there was no such thing as "epic" multi hills for cheap type passes. None cheap.
Only thing that could've made it uglier would've been hosting the Olympics.

'course, on the bright side, these type winters might scare people away for a couple years. Then maybe the pow will start lasting 'til lunchtime again.
good to see you posting again Zappa

VR bringing in the Ute Indians to do a snow dance at the Visty tomorrow @ 8:30a and then up top after that. With the storm forecast, kinda pitching them a softball, but it's all good.

Contemplating driving down to Monarch for a chance at "4-7". Can't decide if it's worth the drive though. Open snow was reporting around 2-4 at most of the I70 resorts.

Your just being paranoid dude. It's all Montanaskier's fault, he pissed off ULLR with all the whining and butthurt long before we reached these dire circumstances Besides that ULLR is sick of hearing about football.

Drove over the pass today on my way to bike in Gunnison. Pretty thin, especially the BC. The Sawatch/Mosquito is in the worst shape I've seen out of all the ranges.

Gonna have to give you a fat not worth it. Not like Monarch is ever worth that drive, but they are even worse off than we are in CB.
    Drive slow, homie.

Well we're either gonna burn like hell this summer or it's gonna be the greatest spring ever.

A couple days ago it was all sunshine in the forecast. Not that anything but a spitting will come from this but at least it tells you have fast things can change.
