there was at least one group ahead of us on the trail, but they opted to not do any of the patches by the lake..... instead they climbed up the shoulder of round top and hit the long patch directly below it.... and then there was a solo guy with green skis we saw as we headed over to our 2nd patch.....

Hit up Lola today. First time this summer. Since the Jan Michael Vincent Memorial Bridge of Danger still looked a bit sketchy, I parked near it, loaded up, and followed a well-heeled trail all the way up to the Lola summit. Much more snow there than this time last summer. Also saw that somebody had beat me to the punch and already tagged the ridge twice. Since I had plans in Reno this evening, I only banged out one 12-turn run, and then skeedaddled back to the Tacomama. 1.5 hours hike up, 50 minute hike down. Snow was minimally sun-cupped and pretty damn smooth. Worth the effort, though next time I'd leave earlier in the day so I could just stay up there a few hours and lap the hell outta the ridge line.

today on round top east. no skis were harmed during the making of this video, although i was a bit concerned i was gonna have to grind it to a stop on the granite before the cliff in the last scene. rare pikalope sighting at 53-57 seconds.

so I would guess that last line classifies as "not pow" in the pow / not-pow taxonomy, yes?

Powdork, that ending was a little puckery for me.

If'n anyone is around Reno on September 29th, I'm hanging some photos up at The Ole Bridge Pub downtown on the river for the month of October, but that Thursday (the 29th) is the opening night reception.

Come on down for a beer.

Some things that'll be up on the wall...

Hey Powdork - showed that video to my middle school students today. They really enjoyed it. They needed to see what summer skiing was all about. They had questioned why a guy owns more than one pair of skis...thanks for the video.

Honestly I have heard that version of Pool Shark a thousand times and never really though about it. Sublime is pretty far removed from your average middle schooler these days...they did not ask.
