the tallest patch in the center was fairly smooth, as is the one above the choke on the right. from the choke down it was pretty bumpy. monday was cooler and pretty chattery while tuesday got real warm and that made a big difference. the snow is consistent throughout the day (my run monday was @ 7 pm when we arrived)

Powdork, I skied that line on Hiram two weekends ago. It's usually my 4th-of-July-last-ski-of-the-year run, but this has been a year unlike any other. If you follow the stream from the campground up to the saddle between Folger Peak and it's eastern peaklet, it's a spectacular wildflower scene with a little skiing at the top. Longer run than Hiram, but it's a rodeo most of the way as it flattens out. I skied it a couple of days before Hiram. Hiram is smoother for sure. Thanks for the pictures.

Shasta should still be great. I'm looking forward to getting up there in September (PM if you want do a day assault on Shasta Hot-tun and then help me look for my goPro in the McCloud River).

Anyone been out for the wildflowers near Roundtop/Winnemucca Lakes? Bringing some friends out there Saturday - wondering if I should bring my skis (and my bikini)?

Skiing Stoke in August, that will go through September, until it's snowing again in Oct! Amazing. Here's some patch skiing beta if anyone wants to hit a few off the West Shore. Flowers are going off!

was out there on the 19th. the flowers are going off, and you should definitely bring your skis. i'm trying to decide between there and highland lakes. the drive is farther but there is literally no hike, and the cooler is always nearby. the wildflowers are just as good, the lake, the pond skimming. i'm thinkimg summer maggot mini.

How did the ridge on looker's left of Folger look on the drive in? There can be some pretty nice chutes not too far from the road when they are still filled in.

Wait, Maggot mini with drive-to patch skiing and pond-skimming in bikinis? When? Can I come? I won't wear a bikini, I promise.

Wish I could show up a Highland lakes for some bikini skiing/pond skimming, but I have about 12 people visiting this weekend so Roundtop/Winnemucca lakes hike is the call and skiing will just be a bonus. Give me a shout if you are out there! And thanks for the facebook votes - top 10 and only moving up!

it's also where we'll be skiing-fishing-partying for the next two days. get thee on the road to highland lakes. first left after ebbetts pass with the sign that says highland lakes. then 20 minutes to the end of the road and the beginning of the snow.

    the full tr from mon-tuesday
if you haven't already seen it (actually that's about 2/3 of the tr, while the full tr is via my sig).

    Nice TR powdork.

I'm doing my best to rally for the patch mini. Aiming for middayish Saturday. (I'm schlepping from Sunnyvale).

I'll be missing the Sunday mini as I already have plans to scuba dive Tahoe that day.
Plan A today is Leavitt Lake/Ski Lake area because it looked so good from a distance on Tuesday.

Skied the top of blackwood yesterday... other than the bugs it was really nice... saw some squaw folks building some lil jibs and jumps on the side of the road.
It was pretty cool to park in snow on the main road, also cool to be in the snow in less than a 15 minute hike!
