what can I say? I don't get out much. Thanks for making me feel bad... Now I might not make opening night because I will be at home depressed about the turn my life has taken.

    Thanks Dookey.

There are still plenty of good choices.
Roundtop/Sisters has more snow now than in July in most years. When I drove by last weekend the Forestdale patches still showed up from a distance. Although kind of small a couple of weeks ago, I would guess that there is still snow near The Nipple. I would guess that the Highland Lakes/Hiram Peak upper patch still goes. further south there may be snow around Sonora Pass. If you can handle a rough drive, Leavitt Lake should still go as well as Dunderberg. If they are still running the boat shuttle, Saddlebag Lake should have plenty to offer.

Lola is still holding nicely (I schussed it yesterday).
It's about an hour drive from Truckee, then about 1.5 hour hike on a well-heeled trail.
The snow is sweet with minimal suncups and about 15 turns long (these are medium to long radius turns). Plenty of entertaining lines, so much so that if you got up there early you could milk it for a few hours w/o getting bored.
Hike out takes about 50 minutes.
Only caveat is that you might need a vehicle with 4x4 clearance (I have a Taco Mama, but didn't even put it into 4wd while driving up or down, but I did bottom out a few times on some rocks).

I think that may signal the beginning of the apocalypse... Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies!

Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness!

    Earthquakes, volcanoes...

The dead rising from the grave!

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Winning the skis at Montbleu was nice. I needed some new hard snow skis.
Thank you TGR, Kirkwood and Shoreline.

plus, you didn't put in like 20 entries. it was a bit funny when the guy won the first pair of skis and then split before the second raffle where it would become clear the box was stuffed with his entries (and sheri o'connor's).

FYI, the forestdale patches as of 2 wweks ago seemed pretty burnt out.... really small and driving that road for those small patches is really not worth the abuse on your vehicle.... round top had mucho patches to offer and it looks like lola has some niceness left.....

hmmmmmm where to make october turns.....?!

Anyone have any thoughts on the possibility of having squaw added to the alpine/homewood/kirkwood pass? That would be a banging good deal.

I could see them allowing adding Alpine to the Squaw pass for another hundy or two...but a four mountain super pass would be tittys.

If it happens, it'll be a one-season anomaly.

I'm guessing that this season, people who've bought passes at both resorts will get a slight rebate and some special benefits, one-resort passholders will get the option of upgrading to a dual pass for a bit of cash, and one-resort passholders who choose not to upgrade will get a small number of day passes at the other to whet their appetites. That's not based on any actual information, purely speculation about what I'd do if I ruled the world.
