"poor guy"??????? WTF? How many DUIs does that make? Do you seriously feel sorry for him? He needs to have his license permanently revoked.

WTF? Dude needs to realize he isn't 20 anymore and face the fact that it might be time to stop partying and join the adult community.

I'm not saying that many of us haven't been there. I should have hundreds of DUIs, but somehow managed to weasel my way out of the couple times I had to walk the line, touch my nose, etc.

I'll take a wild guess and say that Jeremy isn't the kind of guy who can have JUST ONE BEER. One leads to 3 leads to 10 leads to.......running from the cops at 100mph cause you already have previous DUIs and still can't stop drinking...

I'll be praying for him. We all make mistakes. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Jeremy Nobis + booze = jail.

Oh, well. Who knows, except for Mr. Nobis, why he insists on driving after drinking? Maybe he thinks taking public transportation is for gay dudes, or he's got a phobia for taxi drivers? In my experience, if he's been caught a couple of times for drinking and driving, he probably drives under the influence all the time. Great skier, but a total retard. At least he has not killed or maimed anyone, yet.

Lot's of personal demons going on there, methinks.

    Habitual offender much?

It's only a matter of time before a repeat DUI offender hurts someone. Here's an extreme example where the offender is charged with murder.

I feel sorry for Nobis and hope he gets help.

EDIT: do you know for sure that he blew .08? Sometimes they'll list it that way if you blow anything over .08 so it might have been 0.8

I think that means he blew above a .08 which appears to be the legal limit in WY where the arrest occurred.

^^^ Yeah, I do feel sorry for him. It's a total bummer for anybody to be in that kind of trouble.

Let me be the first to say I have drank with Nobis. He held his liqour pretty good for the hour or two we drank at the bar in Vegas. He had some great stories to tell. I like the guy. And that's coming from a person who was hit and almost killed by a drunk driver. I also got out of bed after 45 days in traction partially paralyzed and it took years to heal. Doesn't mean I have any hate for Nobis. He has one hard fukking road ahead of him and I wish him the best in his struggles.

    nonsense.

What would be a bummer would be being the parent or child or lover of one of the thousands of people killed each year by drunk drivers.

I am guilty of being a drunk driver myself. There are many times in the past that I could have killed myself or another. It's purely luck that I didn't. I wouldn't have deserved any sympathy for my actions and neither does this douchebag. I don't give a fuck how good at any sport a person is. It doesn't excuse their actions.

See, normal people learn from their mistakes and change their behavior. I can't label Nobis an alcoholic. Only he can decide that for himself.

What I can say, as a recovering alcoholic myself, is that his behavior sounds alot like mine used to be. Most alcoholics don't care about anyone but themselves. Due to this attitude alcoholics continue to drink and drive because they don't want to be bothered with taking a bus, paying for a cab, and they probably think their ability really isn't impaired unless they are falling down drunk.

I used to think I was a good driver while hammered! Insanity!

I just hope he gets the help it sounds like he needs. Casual social drinkers don't have multiple DUIs and high speed chases in the span of a few years.

I have to fully agree with whiteroom and doughboy. The "I'm a laid back cool guy with no hard feelings" sympathy parade doesn't do Nobis or society any favors. People like him need help. If they don't get help, they endanger others, and then we must be protected by curtailing their freedoms.

It is sad, but Nobis did it to himself.

Wow, gotta disagree with you on that one. You want to see a total bummer? Come spend some time in the ER (or the morgue) and see some patients hit by drunk drivers. Anyone can make a mistake. Drunk driving is not OK, but I can see how it can happen.... Once. If you have multiple DUIs you need to never drive a car again and there is no excuse for him or anyone else in that situation. Its not a total bummer to be in that much trouble when you've clearly brought it on yourself, repeatedly. "Poor guy" makes him sound like the victim. As in, "that poor guy got run over by Nobis when he got his 8th DUI", that would be a more appropriate use of the term "poor guy".

Maybe the trouble he is talking about isn't with the law.

I am glad to see Ned Stone is representing Jeremy. The guy is a damn fine attorney to have on your side when facing the long arm of the law in Utah.

on our way to the movie premiere last evening I saw two cop SUV's had a barefoot guy out of his vehicle just past the south bridge on 189.
"Ha, that looks like Jeremy Nobis," I claimed. But he already got into loads of trouble and quit drinking so it couldn't be him. and it was early, like around 6p.
...I hope he gets some serious help.
    mmmm, snow
