I concur. There is better snow, steeper terrain, and more vertical available elsewhere without liftlines.
However, it is cool that they are offering up lift served for a day. I wonder if they have more snow than they did on opening day in October

True the backcountry conditions are still looking great. But I have about 120 hours of work in the next 10 days so every hour off needs to count! More backcountry runs in August!

Went out and milked the nipple for a few turns with Vets and Arno today. Snow was still pretty good. TR later, I imagine...

sadly though, i've been stuck at work for the last week

Hey guys, I'm thinking about coming out to Tahoe this winter. I've never been to Tahoe so I have some quick questions. I would be staying in Incline Village so it seems the best major resorts close by would be Squaw, Alpine, and Rose. What are the approximate drive times to these three from Incline? Also, is it worth picking up a pass for Diamond Peak since it's so close? Thanks.

Just saw pix of the Sierra Buttes and surrounding area of Sardine Lake: it's still holding tons o' snow up there...

@PD: nice to see that they let you caddies and boat valets mingle with the popular people...

Depends on road conditions. I don't know how often the pass closes to Rose and towards Squaw can be really slow going on storm days.

Depending on your budget, staying in Incline it may not be a bad idea to have passes to both Heavenly and Squaw (or Alpine)... so depending on road conditions that day you can head in either direction.

I gave a thought yesterday to the coming season... so I'm happy to see summer is still going strong. That lunar run is attractive, if scary looking. Keep after it!

Do you know if Woods Lake is open?

Mini-TR: Schralpine Ghettos 7/21/11 High Yellow Gully Adventure

Gone2Alpine, Mrs G2A, JLA415 and a dog hit up the Ghettos for a long hike and ski Thursday. While JLA415 complained about the hiking instead of driving, we packed it up to the top of High Yellow Gully, where coverage is still great relatively in our own back yard.

JLA415 enjoys a patch on the way up.

PD - I know SuPu likes that shit and all, but what's up with the 2 nasty skanks? I'd rather see Vets naked than them.

telemike, i've been working the patron bar at the tournament for 4 years now, and every year all the other girls that work at edgewood full time rag on the southern wine and spirits girls that come to cocktail on the beach. over the years i've realized they're just like everyone else. doing a job to try and make ends meet for themselves and in most cases their families

Thanks. About to head that way in an hour. Should be able to do a loop starting at Carson Pass and ending at Woods Lake.
