There a few variations I envisioned in that zone too, my body isn't keeping up with my mind though.

That cliff above you in this pic looks the best I have ever seen it. It looks like a 20-30 footer. I think one of you folks should hit it in the next few days. By Memorial Day it will burn out.

And Slash looks like you could drive a groomer up it. I don't think I have ever seen it look wide.

    What a spring.

Here's today's Chimney contribution. Still looks wintery up there. It looks like I may get one last day on Friday before the new human arrives in our family, debating between KW and Squaw....hmmm. No Silvy or Granite running today.

A troller I talked to on the lift last week said Silvy is done for the season. He wondered if there would be a fuss when word got out (like last time).

    Hey Squaw Maggots.
If you're riding up Silvy lift, there's those black cliffs in front of you. Is that Iron Curtain, or The Great Wall?
There's 3 chutes in there, on the left of the cliffs, that you duck through a gate in the lookers right boundary to access. Are they named?
Anyone mind if we call the one up against the cliffs Birthday Chute?

Maybe, the_immaculateDeception could post some pics??

Anybody poked around in/around Lassen yet? They haven't begun working on the road yet, but maybe soon?

I'm looking forward to seeing the snowbanks at the upper parking lot this year. They're huge even in a down year, so I imagine they'll be ridiculous this year.

    Be afraid...very afraid

Everybody in the back country please be careful for the wet slides out there. We got twice as much snow this year and everything is going to be a little different. Saw powdork start a couple slides today that could of been fatal or a real pain in the ass if you weren't paying attention. SO PAY ATTENTION! Otherwise the snow was geeeeeeeerate!! More pics to come

yes thats the iron curtain. the boys like to ski BASE that one. China Wall is the large cliff band lookers left of Silvy

we used to call those three the fatal attraction chutes, although i think "fatal attraction" might actually refer to something else on the patrol map

call it whatever you want just stay out of my red pole line (some of you know what i'm talking about)

The snow sure was amazing in Thunder Bowl! SOOOO Good! The wet slide happened skiers right of Martin point when we were on our way back from Thunder bowl around 2:30 ish. He made two turns and each one caused a significant slide. Going back there tomorrow morning!

i always thought there should be three chutes together called 'asps', 'very dangerous', and 'you go first'.

i don't think i was gonna die, but i am glad i was paying attention cuz otherwise it would have been over the small cliff and through the trees.
at the same time, get a damn beacon! the second one was more what i was expecting

This is how you dodge two slides at once. Great video! Take Note! If you would like further instructions on how Recco will help you avoid a slide call 28840404786

I'll be hanging in the parking lot @ KW on Sun. Red dodge ram 1500, should be parked right up front under chair 6. Can't ride so I'll be in full on chill mode. See yall out there.

Really? A wet slide there? Right where it bakes in the sun all day long come late April? I wish I knew where the "shaking head" emoticon is, so I could shame you extreme types.

And I was going to post "POV vid, or it did not happen", but then powdork got it up.

Yeah, I am sure that skiing stuff is fun and all, but the beach weather has been off the hook. Surf has been small, but damn it is nice out.

And my garage is spic an span clean.

Just days away now. Going on a jog that baby out hike.

    nice accidental ski cut

that snow looks like it hasn't consolidated yet, i.e. deflated/settled from the last storm cycle and started a consistent freeze/thaw pattern. yes? if so, seems norbal for this time of year, post storm.

I would be very surprised if GC was closed for the rest of the season. I hope you are wrong.
That lift is the backbone of Spring at Squaw (even if KT is still turning).
