There's still good snow to be found in trees and leeward aspects. Use caution however. We traveled through some funky, slabby snow, especially on wind affected slopes.

Dirtbag skiers and boarders are always going to ride on the stuff right out of the parking lot.
I need to get up to BP for a tour once the avi level comes down another notch.
Love how he complains about avy gear being too expensive, but he's wearing the most expensive goggles on the market. Sweet jersey btw...
"pretty confident in my snowboarding abilities".....DOUCHE
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Hey, fuck you guys. Just because you're not good enough to out ski an avalanche, don't blame me. If you can't hang with the big dogs, don't come out to play suckers.
I'm pretty confident in my snowboarding. Some people aren't as good as me and they should probably stick to the groomers or whatever.
Hey news guy, smell my finger.
So is all of Berthoud now referred to as "The Fingers". I missed that memo.
He probably has a super hot girlfriend too. Women love d-bags.
What a poorly edited piece of "news"
Changing the subject, the road has really taken a beating this winter. Massive pot holes.
Wait, What?

How about those squirrelly telemark turns in the background? Turns like that seem about as unsafe as riding a "ravine" without a transceiver.
Anyone skied the stanley slide lately? I've been itching to give it a go since I saw the massive debris pile at the bottom last Sunday when I drove up that way.
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!
Cletus: Duly noted.
Thanks ullrdrool! That debris pile on 40 was just too inviting I guess. Still, I may run up there early Sunday morning and see if I can find a clean line through it. Anyone interested in coming along? I have to be back to town early but if I could be skinning by 7 or 7:30 that should give me more than enough time to get it done.

Skied the rock chute on the north face of Russell today (skiers left of the prominent line down the north side of Russell). Checked stability with several ski cuts and things were far better than a few days ago. The beginning of the chute was great. I had good sloughing (but not propagation) and was skiing the steep portion fast. Unfortunately, the shot isn't very well filled in and I tagged a rock about 2/3 of the way down.
If you drop into the same line just be wary...it looks good but there are sharks just under the surface.
The snowpack in the Front Range is just thin when compared to farther west in the state...it messes with my confidence. For the rest of the day I was paranoid that I'd tag another rock just under the surface.
Left two pairs of bdel poles at a pull-off S of the summit (directly below Russel E Face) this afternoon. If anyone happened to grab them, or will be up in the am, pm me and we'll swap for your 24 of choice. Many thanks.
Look like alot of them stuck to the main run on the west side.. Notice the boot pack and booters in the middle of the run. Dug a pit on a north facing slope at 28 degrees and nothing moved at all.
Big time suncrust on south facing stuff in the morning.

The 6" deep surface hoar skied very nicely. In some areas it was almost unbelievably feather like.
Anyone gonna try and fight the -13 degree high for tomorrow? Looking at the report its tempting though stability issues might make me keep driving for winter park....
Saw that shit and the same line that slid in second creek weeks ago where the verbal tongue lashing ensued was skied as well. I don't crawl out of the trailer much but when I do, watch the fuck out!
I love this: Ryan Brownsberger went in to the backcountry Tuesday morning without any safety gear.
“It’s kind of expensive and I don’t really need (any), I’m just going down the ravine,” Brownsberger said.
I will forever shy away from the top o the shitass I mean pass because of this! I also thought the surface Whores sounded very distinct in 2nd creek.
Also, since this is my 69th post count I will never post again to savor this beautiful moment.
American by birth, Southern by the grace of god!
^haha yes, It sucked being without one for a few weeks... had to sell my gopro but I'd rather live than have sick footage of dying. lol
