    Spirt 3's and Dukes

Complete BC jong question, but are Spirit 3's compatible with Dukes. Any good AT binding/boot compatibility resources out there?

They are compatible. (I have Spirit 4s with Dukes.)

AKBruin, how do you like the setup? I plan to use both my alpine boots and Spirit 3's with the Dukes next year. Anyone have any experience with this?

It works fine. I got both the Dukes and the Spirit 4s at the end of the season, but I'm fairly pleased with both in my brief experience. I did one day at Mammoth with my alpine boots, and the Dukes worked fine. It only requires about 30 seconds of screwdriver work per ski to get the plate in place when switching from AT to alpine. I find that I need to crank the din of my Dukes up a bit though.

My Spirit 3s work fine with my Dukes. I do notice that I need to stomp down pretty hard on the heel to engage, but I'm not sure if that's a Duke thing or a Spirit thing or an AT Boot / Vibram sole thing. It did get easier as the season progressed. Also I noticed that I needed to play with the toe height adjustment a little to get it right - but that's easy to do.

Curiously, I have had problems with my Spirit 3s and Dynafit Vertical binders. Apparently some of the Spirit 3s had some sort of issue with the sole being too thick at the front and messing with the toepiece engagement on the Dynafits. I've had them replaced (2nd replacement just arrived - need to go get them and test), and ground the replacements with no luck. Scarpa knows of the problem and its apparently (supposedly) just with some Spirit 3s and I'm starting to suspect perhaps just with the Dynafit Vertical ST - but I don't have other Dynafit binders to try out.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

I've heard that some of the Spirit 4s have the same problem with Dynafits. As long as Scarpa will replace/fix the problem boot, it's not really an issue for me.

The dukes, fritschis, and naxos are all designed to be used with alpine and AT boots. So any of them will work with a boot that has a rubber sole, you just needs to adjust the toe height for it. The duke particularly doesn't like rubber soles, it takes a bit more force to step in but they will work.

I appear to be having the same problem with my Spirit 3/Comforts. Good to read that Scarpa will address the issue as I wasn't looking forward to trying to modify the boots to make them work...

Another question. Got my Spirit 3's in the mail today. BSL on the 27.5 is actually 313. My X waves are 325. Will I be able to use Dukes for both boots with minimal adjustment?

^^You'll have to slide the heel up every time, and maybe change the toe height. If you will be able to feel the difference depends on what ski it is and where its mounted.
