Has anybody read the "Clapton" autobiography. It is a good read, and Clapton is surprisingly humble through out it, and give lots of credit to many bluesmen before him, and during his carrier that make him what he is. It is worth reading.
He was fucked up dude throughout most of his carrier. It is amazing he survived.

I always thought Martin Barre was a great guitar player, but he was like a chameleon, he blended into whatever song he was playing in, and never dominated the piece, even when absolutely ripping his leads. I suppose he never aspired to be the show, but rather, was content to be a player, a minstrel in the gallery. Originally Posted by Woodsy

I didn't read through the whole thread, but Larry Carlton is insanely underrated.
He has played solos on so many albums its unreal. Steely Dan, Michael Jackson and many others. Not to mention some of his solo albums are absolute shredfests.

On a different note, Brad Paisley actually rips, for that kind of thing. Unfortunately his guitar gets lost in the overproduced country schlock.
