He has been hanging back there long before most peeps thought of it. Without skins. Before tele was hip.

The slack country around here was getting skied, and the mentioned names coined, well before the equalizer got to town. Their is no escaping the fact that there is the old guard that is grumpy, and they need to lighten up or just go farther out. Most of the close-in trails are highways once they are established so boot packing or skate stepping with a board does no harm to the trail. I think post holing a fresh trail is pretty lame. I may have given this guy a hard time years ago, but nowadays I just say hey or thanks if they step out of the way to let me pass.

Snowboarders for the most part stay closer in and ride the stuff they can traverse to. This makes for a shorter traverse / hike out. The close in lines out there get hacked up more then in the past, and there is hiking traverses out of cliffed out areas all the time. I just get my lines, move farther out or get my Braap on. When they put another lift right to the top of the canyon in a couple of years like planned, the Petting zoo, will really become a zoo.

The Equalizer needs to get thicker skin. Maybe some candy on the trail from a random skier would make his day.

Not saying the snowboarder is a great guy, but telemark skiers are such faggots. First of all, telemark skiing is incredibly gay. Second of all, most telemark skiers are self-righteous, passive-aggressive douchebags.

It's not the gear. It's the person using it. Maybe some peoples perception of Tele skiers is skewed because it was once a fringe sport. Being a fringe sport maybe it attracted the type of people who go out of their way to be different. You know, like the douches in high school who were into one thing and then dropped it and called it lame as soon as it became popular. Who knows. Maybe those kind of people think that by doing tele, they can be way different and cooler just like painting their fingernails black or wearing a kilt.

Respect begets respect. The BC is dangerous. If you can't learn and use proper etiquitte it's safest to assume that you don't give a shit about avalanche and BC safety either. I'm not got gonna feel good about some gaper or reckless idiot out there putting himself or I in danger. But, being an ass about etiquitte is just as bad as not following it either. People are much more responsive to friendly conversation than passive agressive attitudes or outright rudeness. That's why tone is important if you wanna change someones mind. Thats' why if I see someone without gear (beacon/probe/shovel) I'm not gonna try to do the self-important lecture. Rather, using a conversational tone and suggestive manner to get them thinking and being more self aware about safety will always be more effective. If someone is an ass to me, even if I am wrong my pride would keep me from even considering what they have to say.

Seriously, though. They display nothing but self-righteous behavior with their stupid little holier-than-thou attitude. It's fucking nature and it's meant to be shared. I would think the "tolerant" telemarkers should understand this.

As I said earlier, though, this should've never gotten to the point of having to write anything. If a telemarker pulled that shit with me, I would've pounded his face in right there on the spot.
