Well.... maybe not epic, more like sketchy.
Me and Kyle didnt start hiking till about 3pm. After working 13 hrs at my moving job on Fri I really wasnt too stoked on this little expedition but I didnt want to throw away a 10 month streak, even if I was exhausted as hell. It turned out better arriving late, as we didnt have to fight with the hordes to find a parking spot.
On the way up we saw at least 20 skiers and riders hiking down, most were out to keep their respective streaks alive as well, I think one guy said he had his up to around 10 years or so. There was even a couple who were rockin some goddamn snowlerblades, definitely got a good chuckle out of that.
We got to about 9k before we decided to stop because of the sheer nastiness of the snow. After some freeze dried grub we started our decent at around 6, with the light quickly fading. The snow ranged from shitty at best to almost unskiable at worst, the sunset was pretty sweet though and the views made everything worth it. The hike down in the dark was really interesting, the thick fog brought visability to near zero, even with headlamps. Thankfully we had GPS also, so staying on trail was a piece of cake. All in all it was pretty fun, I feel lucky to live in a place where September turns are even possible.
