Here's an excerpt from the ESPN article (not the biased boston.com article):

While Bonds hasn't exactly plead guilty to all of the sins Schilling lists, he has been judged harshly in the court of public opinion. Big Papi's not so sure, saying Bonds has talent no matter how you look at it.

Edit: And here's another one, from CNNSI.com. Read the first paragraph.

Who the fuck cares?? Schil said it like it is, there is no gray area. The man is about to break one of the most sacred records in baseball, and he did it by cheating. Does he have natural talent? Hell Yes, but the baby got jealous of all the home runs and attention that Sammy and Mark were getting, and decided to juice. If you choose to deny that, then you truly are naive.

Pretty sure that Bonds took steroids, whether knowingly or not (personally I think he knew, but thats heresay), and thats cheating. His mistress was the one that broke the tax thing, so Im pretty sure mistress= cheating on wife. And the way the tax thing has been described, I dont see how he even has a case.
Plus hes a fucking prick. Fuck the court of public opinion...we all have our own opinions, and mine is that he is a true dickhead and I dont want to see him break the record because he is a cheating asshole. Its like seeing a dickhead prick get a good looking girl- just sucks.
Curt Schilling apparently agrees more with me than some yes-man spewing the corporate line, and thats cool, but its more the fact that Schilling responded to a question with his opinion. Its not like he held a newsconference to announce his disdain for Bonds.

Look, I think he took roids too, and I fucking hate the guy... but that doesn't make what Schilling said right. The guy spews shit out of his ass and thinks all is well.

Should he be spewing it from somewhere else?

As much as I sometimes hate it when schil runs his mouth, he does have a right to say whatever he wants. And in this case, I totally agree with him.

Talk to me when he says some senseless Jesus Bullshit, and you might have an argument.

Actually, depending on when he took them (if he did), it may not have been cheating. Steroids were not banned until after the 2002 season.

Sure he has a right to say it... but he needs to consider what he says a little more carefully. You can't just talk about how a guy has been proven guilty on serveral different (and VERY serious) things, when he hasn't... its the same thing as the court assuming someone is guilty and making them prove innocence.

(that being said, again, I think he's guilty of everything as well, but its just not proven yet)

Another track... how great would it be if the Mitchell investigation releases their findings on Bonds a few days before he gets to 755? Say, let him get to 750 and then drop the bomb on him.

From what I hear, Bond's problem right now is not the steroid thing, but a perjury indigtment. Talk to Scooter Libby about that one.

I was pretty sure that steroids were always illegal.

Exactly, and by using them, he was breaking the law. It doesn't matter if they were banned by MLB or not, THEY ARE A FEDERALLY BANNED PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUG.

BFD. My doctor can prescribe me oxycontin. Doesn't mean that its not a controlled substance.

Well, somebody used the word "illegal". I'm just narrowing that down. Steroids are a common treatment for many ailments, and I haven't heard of a doctor being placed in jail for recommending them.

And, say, could you talk to your "doctor" about a little Oxy for Benny baby. Huh? Please?

Doctors aren't generally prescribing anabolic steroids.

Actually, not really. There seems to be a perception that has become ingrained in the national consience that steroids are "bad" and "illegal", which makes it difficult to use them for their intended use by the medical community, I'm pretty sure.

Somewhere back there in this thread or another, someone put forth the argument that baseball players should be prescribed steroids for physical ailments - especially pitchers. I agree with this. If I had a work related injury that called for them, I would expect my doctor to prescribe them. I mean, why not?

Well as long as we are being pedantic, stuff like testosterone and cholesterol are steroids too. Just saying.

The Yankees fans are turning on each other.

    Is cholesterol really a steroid?
