Masters degrees may make the HR folks happy, but all mining engineers I've worked with that have masters\pHD's have been idealistic morons.

Haha iceman did you actually blow torch off your facial hair?! Classic dude!
Wow all this info about degrees flying around making my head spin. i dont think youd need a major degree to go out and start filming for your own little production company would you? gaijin? anyone?

Ok reno, ive got a single post (where the hell did u get 14?!) stating that the lame jokes a couple people made werent exactly called for, seeing as how i was asking a question dealing with something a little more serious than usual, which apparently people like you cant handle. So now your calling me a douche bag carved of stone or something, hell ill joke about anything, you dont even know what your talking about. Im just looking for a little professional advice here, not some random dude crackin a blonde joke. And you my friend are far from professional so dont bother. Theres a joke, take that one home, chew on it, its delicious I know the TGR guys razz people and thats fine with me, cuz a) there somebody (your not) and b) its probably about a different subject entirely. Dont you dare call me sweetheart again, and no i wont send you pics you wierd ass perv

It's cool that you have these desires, but the real deal is that the folks filming these movies are mostly film professionals. That is, they are trained. This means school. It's obvious by your writing style that you're a younger (nothing wrong with that). Get out there, do some research, and find out what's involved. Remember, very few people have their dream jobs fall into their lab. It takes lots of hard work, dedication, and usually some type of training or schooling. For example, I have goals set out for where I want to be in 10 years, and am slowly stepping my way towards it, upward move by upward move. It's chess, not checkers YO!

If anyone disagrees with me, please provide the field in which you work and the field in which you got your bachelors. I (virtually) promise they don't match.

Another truth is that a master's degree is not just about higher credentials for a resume, they are actually about establishing independence in your field. Example; A master's for film production will have a "Major Work" project focused on producing and selling a film. Whereas a bachelors in the same field will teach you how to shoot video and edit it. Yay.

    so... in the end you are one of three types of people;
    A) One who found reasons not to go to school. (no degree)
    B) One who went to school hoping to find the reason. (a bachelor's)
    C) Or- one who went to school for the right reasons. (A master's/Doctorate)

    Welcome to the 21st century.
Wow, you're so worldy. Still in school too, huh?

Marge: Bart, where did you get that ponytail?
Bart: I cut it off some guy in the theater.(parades around with it) 'Look at me, I'm a grad student. I'm almost 30 and I made $400 dollars last year.'

Marge: Bart, don't make fun. It's not their fault, they just made an awful life decision.

    Are you fucking kidding now?
This was not a serious thread and you did not ask a serious question. You said that you want to be a pro skier for TGR. How can anyone take that serious. Have you ever skied?

What...mommy always there to save you from mean people? You should call her so she can help you douche your mangina.

Besides, What's wrong with Pig farming? Think of all the bacon you would get.

I figured you got a lot of 'industry pros' looking at these threads, why not throw some shots up and show 'em what you got. Maybe just maybe somebody will realize how fucking hard you are killing it.

Yes, you are, MBS. But you aren't qualified to correct his spelling. Luckily, I am.

CC, first thing you need to learn is that there is only one 'i' in "Skier." There are two in Skiing only because it ends in 'ing.'

(Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine).

Wow Detroit i guess its just the whiskey talking hey bud? If you would have read further into the thread, you would see that i corrected that little pro skier comment into a "serious" topic of university degrees and film making studies. Get the picture?
Jeese Reno big tough guy, i guess i can assume your some kind of top notch citizen by the way you talk, good for you
See im not in the industry yet, so i cant be "fucking killing it". Hell i havent even taking a single shot to throw up smarty guy. I thought you could figure that on your own seeing as how i already said im only considering this and just gettin the rundown on it to see if its what i wanna do.
But hell while were at it, you can put some of your amazing photos up and leave us all in shock and awe.. ya that would be real nice
I havent already wasted my life away haha like some people
Thanx 4 tha spellin tip Kevin

Hey there, just take it easy.

I refuse to go back to school to get my masters just so I can make more $$$. It pisses me off that many people graduate with a "Masters Degree in Education" and they have never taught before. Bunch of bullshit.

Now everybody go back to ripping on Crazy Canuck

Soooo.... yes, you're still a student. And you teach to make ends meet.

    How unique.

Not still a student. Going to be a student again. Just looking forward to an upcoming MA program that won't infringe on my tenured employment. One that does much more than make ends meet, btw. It's interesting that that is the stereotype.

This is quite the judgemental board. Why all the negativity towards people who want to keep studying? And why does studying mean being broke? Or sucking up to HR? Or fear of failure?

CrazyCanuck came on here asking for advice. I offered some to provide a bit of variety in why people go to school. I was also one of the first to admit that degrees aren't necessary in all fields. Why so many posters are finding a need to criticize this text is kind of bazaar.

Good luck canuck, I hope you find support for your dreams here.
