who says you can't have a car ? you can have a car, but cannot park it on campus is what they mean. plenty of places to park on the east siiide, couple blocks in on the hill and in the goss grove area.
worst case is that you get the eldora pass and become well acquainted with the RTD. do not rely on ski club for anything execept a good spring break trip. perhaps you will meet folks who have cars and can cage rides from them.

Considering how many people own up to NOT going there, seems like it would be the place to be!!!
man, i would be way more concerned with getting a fake id for shows @ the fox versus trying to hook it up for turns.

find a friend in the dorms with a car
hmmmmm... lots of hostility towards little old eldora.
Maybe I'm a little different, but I like parking 50 feet from the lift, driving 15 minutes to the hill, not waiting in lines, and knowing what happens to 6 inches of snow once the winds kick up. Also, I prefer to be able to go ski every day (at least when I had that flexibility) and still go to class/have a job. That's just me.
$129 for a pass and a free student bus pass = no gas expenditure
thirded, get the pass for $129, on snowy days when I-70 is a mess, Eldora is a nice relief.
I grew up in Boulder. Me and all my friends made a pact- when we got out liscences we would never go back to Eldora. Never had a problem keeping that promise, although when the once ever 4 year Blizzard hits the front range, I might consider it... If you have other options don't bother.
Hey Z does this work? People who ski eldora, eldora at skiing.
haters wanna hate......Eldora is amazing on a powder day..nuf said, and theres something to be said about going to class, skiing the mid day, and going to a night class...cant really do that up in scummit...oh yeah $99 for a student pass, totally worth it.
Eldora was the first place I skied in CO on a roadtrip thsi year. With 14" of new snow it did not suck. In fact it ruled. One of the most fun days of the season for me.
no, no - the naysayers are right. go anywhere but eldora.. move along, nothing to see here.
Eldora is all right for the local hill & it's the closest & easist to access. You'll be able to ride the bus or find rides no problem. It can be windy, but it's usually not that crowded, & is great for spring up-slope storms.
Loveland is really cold, windy, not that steep, the lifts are slow,& a lot of the terrain faces south.
Calmer than you dude
I am sure all of you people who are bashing Eldora have spent a ton of time there so you know exactly what you are talking about. But I think you are doing this guy a disservice.
While I will agree that Eldora is small, the lifts are slow and the wind sometimes (OK, a lot) blows really hard. Eldora can be a great place to ski if you know what you are doing. It is really tough to beat the proximity to Boulder and the general lack of crowds.
Vermonter, go and see for yourself and make your own decision. Shoot me a PM when you get out next fall and I can show you around and let you decide if Eldora sucks.
CU grad, ex Eldora employee (can you say free pass?). First of all, all the wind in the world starts at Eldora, so some days it has to blow really hard to get up enough momentum to make its way around the globe.
Second, you cannot beat the proximity. Ski a couple hours in the morning then go to class, or, go to class, ski a couple hours in the afternoon. I tried skiing the I-70 hills a couple days a week one year and nearly flunked out. Eldora is a great hill to get some turns in between trips to Vail, the Basin WP or wherever. Becuase a bad day on the mountain is better than no day on the mountain.
Third, night skiing (do they still have it?). Ever tried it? It's great, and it opens up options for more time to turn.
Is it the best resort in the state? Nope. Will you get some good days there? Yep. I had a couple 20+ days during my 10 years in Boulder. Will you get some ice capade days there? Yep. Lots of 'em some years. So what. Sharpen your edges and pretend you're Tommy Moe.
True story....guy across the hall in my dorm was from New Hampshire; never skied out west. Took him to Eldora in early Nov to ski in 6" of what we called mashed potatoes (heavy, wet). Two runs in he says, "Man, this powder is great! We stared in disbelief. Then laughed. Took him to the back bowls at Vail later that year and he refers back to the day at Eldora saying, "You guys must have thought I was an idiot." Actually, we still think that, but he bought beer so we kept taking him up.
Try to keep two ideas in your head at the same time without blowing your brains out your ass.
I skied some of the bigger resorts (Killington, Stowe, etc.) back East this Winter for the first time since moving to Colorado years ago. Then I skied Eldora a few days after getting back to Colorado and an average snow day at Eldo was still as good, if not better then almost all of my days in the East.
That doesn't say much, but 95% of East Coast skiers would give their left nut to have an area like Eldora within an hour of a major city.
The thing I can't stand about Eldora is the slow ass lifts that stop every 10 feet. With a few more snow guns, a couple of new groomers and a couple of high speed quads Eldora would be better then almost anything on the East Coast.
'The Pearl,' 'the best east coast skiing in the west'...as some of us past employees lovingly refer to it...but stay off the backside on a pow day...no good there, Salto sucks and is scary...West Ridge isn't really steep, not even at the Waterfall...yeah, go to Loveland. Eldora is so Eldora.

yeah, eldora kinda sucks my ass, oh wait, so do most in firing range of boulder ski areas. Ski the BC and Vail and Beaver Creek when the snow gets deep. Hell, throw in a BBQ day at A-basin once in a while too. Good luck getting any work done at CU....place is a fuckfest!
