Scheduling meetings at work- what a pain in the ass

We've got some shitty Groupwise system here at work that makes it impossible to schedule meetings in the first place... but seriously: I've got a couple meetings I run each month with 10-15 people. So, I go in and schedule it to best fit everyone's open time. There's always one GD person who comes to me after I send it out, "Didn't you look at my schedule? I can't make the meeting so you might want to reschedule it." Wouldn't you know it, that bitch sits right next to me!

Maybe I should just tell her that she's not really important anyways, and I don't care if she shows up or not.

Why don't you set standard meeting times and then let everyone else deal with scheduling conflicts?

Because that would be too easy. I tried scheduling one before lunch... "Don't you know I have to take lunch at 11:00 and if your meeting runs over, I can't make it?" I tried to schedule one after lunch (1:00)... "If I'm late getting back from lunch, I won't be able to make it." People here are just way too set in their ways.

Have all staff put their schedules on their GW calendars, then next time you want to schedule a meeting, GW can automatically find a date/time where all are free and no one can bitch.

But yeh, work sucks generally.

If this was the case, then we'd have all meetings at 4:00 in the morning or at 7:00 on a Saturday afternoon.

Schedule status meetings (which I'm guessing this is, as what other reason is there to meet with 10-15 on a monthly basis) at a set time and day every month. Do this about a month and a half out, and use the fact that it's a large amount of people to muscle people's schedules around. Can't make it? Make someone take minutes and send em out. NOTE: I recommend making the latest person take the minutes.
