I've been sneaking in some lunchtime runs at alpine doing the same. I've skied more hardpack this year than every other year of skiing combined. (all 3 of them)

You ever notice how high off the ground scott chair is? I'd forgotten until this year.

Luckily there's enough dirt showing on a lot of the good hikes that even light snow shouldn't slide. Whoohooo for dirt bonding!!!!

we should hook up for some mach schnell laps sometime. i've been AM in the mornings for a couple hours every day or other day or so. even been sneaking in some runs at the gates with the masters racing.

hopefully this next precip event will mean the end of groomer runs... at least for a while.

    Definitely.

This is the first year I've used my midweek alpine pass for noontime groomer runs instead of late afternoon work arrivals.

    S. Lake Tahoe airport - http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sa...html?text=KTVL

6-8" of precipitation, but higher ground is going to be key

Sounds remarkably like the storms in late December '05. Time to break out the sleds and hit the high country...

I'm just stoked we're expecting snow somewhere.

What does everyone call that white crap that falls out of the sky? I've forgotten.

Thank god my pass is at a resort where the base at the lodge is 8260' ...

I'm praying for 4 feet of mashed potatoes. Wet, sticky, nasty, unskiable cement. And he writ it thus: 'And it shall fall in a blanket on the land, and the people shall rejoice in its coming. They shall feast on bacon and pabst for a fortnight; all shall smile and bask in the glory that is sierra cement. Amen.'

Well, looks like all those pictures of CII bowl i've been studying for the comp are gonna be a little bit changed by the time the comp rolls around!

btw - I'm thinking of hitting one day at Squaw this weekend to poke around before the comp to get an idea of the carnage i'm in for . I haven't been there in years and only like 2-3 times in my life.

thanks man. if I come up, it'll be a last minute thing (travelling out of town for a few days and then will make a gametime decision when I get home). if I can't make it up, I guess i'll just have to show up, on-sight something and give'er!

Come to Kirkwood or be mocked endlessly. You don't need to practice squaw, just peruse Squallywood. I know I can ski everything there after reading it.

Edit: I don't even have to test that theory, that's how confident I am with my reading abilities.

This could be one of those storms where I'm either really glad to be at Mammoth (higher elevation) or really sad (moisture goes north).

Come on Ullr, bring the wet heavy Sierra Cement so we can finally rip the Noids!

The 7K snowline will be good for base building.

7 to 8k snow levels would actually be perfect. Sad we are talking about base building in February but so true.
