I'm so glad i booked my eurotunnel ticket last night.

Arriving in calais at 4pm then drive through the night to get to verbier to hook up with mulletizer.

Its going to be a whole week of storm skiing. The snowpack could be a little interesting though. freezing levels fluctuating from 2600 down to 400 and back up to 2600 again over a couple of days. We'll have to keep an eye on the avie risk.

I'm thinking engelberg could be sweeet on tues / wed. Greg, are you around wed/thurs ?

Well, actually I'm just the photographer for my brother and cousin on these two ... Both taken in Sölden on December 26.

And one from the local celebrity:

    Let it snow, NOW!

How's Chamonix shaping up at the moment? I'll probably be swinging through early this week so if you see a gaper-tele guy on Public Enemies with a Blue Arcteryx jacket give a shout.

How's y'alls doin these days anyway? I skimmed through the thread but a bit too busy with work to check the forum these days...

I'll probably head out to Obertauern, Kitzsteinhorn or Stubai when the snow comes, so probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I have a car. Who's in?

The main part of that snow dump looks to be around engelberg.

I'm going to be heading that way from verbier on wed i think if anyone wants a lift. Let me know soon as i could bring my espace if more people are up for it.

i'd say stay put. chamonix will get a goodly amount, if not more than anywhere else. switz will do fine as well. and considering it's basically falling on zero base, you might as well stick to your high altitude options unless you want to run groomers. i'll be at g3000 (running groomers) most likely.

I've claimed it already once and I'm going to claim it again. I am the reason it is going to snow in the alps. Now where's my beers?

See you over the pond on Wednesday.

Franz - I'll send you a text when I arrive. I probably will be up for touring around.

From the meteo-leysin site. This is good news!!!!!

    weather predicted:

"The change seen by the models since more than one week is confirmed. A dynamics flow of south-west is set up. It will be directed temporarily in the North-West between Monday and Tuesday, being worth us of intense precipitations for the first 2 days of 2007. Snow will fall around 2000 m at the beginning, will reach the station (1300 m) Monday about the semi-day and will fall in abundance all the day from Tuesday until low altitude. Hoped quantities: 20 to 35 cm in station, 40 to 50 cm around 1600 m and 50 to 80 cm above 2000 m from here at Wednesday morning!"

It snowed to 2600m last night!

This shows how that high front has been pushed out, finally.

Now we are in the moisture path.

And I am guessing that the Tatras are doing well.

Hey guys, my sister is coming to Europe in a few weeks (sorry, no naked pics, you sick bastards) she is a beginner snowboarder. She had planned on spending a couple of weeks in eastern Europe and then Austria for a couple of weeks. Given the piss-poor snow situation, any suggestions on alternatives for her? She doesn't need too much, just some nice beginner terrain, hopefully a nice village, and cheap.
