I'm going to be in the Paznauntal in a couple of weeks. Despite the situation, I'm actually pretty stoked to be 8km from Ischgl. Sprichst Deutsch, gel? Check out this thread from a couple of weeks back. Schaugt gar nit so schlect aus. Ischgl's prolly not cheap, but other villages in the valley are reasonable. If she/you decide to go there, drop me a PM or something and if I'm online we can hook up.

I've got leave from the 20/1 till 3/2. I'll be somewhere where there is snow.
Got a mate who is supposed to be in St Anton this season (last I spoke to him), so I'd like to head there for a few days at least. I'll throw a PM your way a bit closer.

It's a bit too far for me as I have to coordinate with friends. I'll have to check that today.

So glad we got rid of that high.

OK, looks like I am heading out to high altitudes somewhere in the Eastern Alps on the 3rd.

Wildstyle, would love to join you, but it's just too far for me. I have to be back in Graz on the 5th for my flight to Damascus. I am sure during my absence it will snow without end ...

Update for New Year's Eve. Outlook is for 50-70cm of snow at 2000m in the Northern French Alps, very little of this snow will make it to the Southern Alps or Pyrenees. The snow line will fall from 2000m on Monday to 1600m on Tuesday morning then 1000-700m on Wednesday. The fresh snow will be accompanied by very strong to violent winds from the south-west to west. This will move a lot of snow onto north-east to north slopes to add to existing slabs on west slopes formed before Christmas by the Lombard wind. The existing base is composed of a thick layer of depth hoar. Avalanche risk will rise over the coming days with skier triggered slabs of considerable size likely from the Haute-Savoie through to the north of the Hautes-Alps. Keep a close eye on the Avalanche Bulletins

don't you just love the feeling of a thousand tiny needles piercing the skin on your face, your neckwarmer thingy a chunk of solid ice pressing against your mouth and chin, the complete vertigo of suddenly finding yourself in a steep bump run where you can't see the bumps or anything else except whitewhitewhite...

    HAPPY NEW YEAR, EUROS!

ask again in about 5 days.
when the trend says that the current dump was just a reminder of better times and it goes back to old autumnal patterns, or that the current dump was the start of a real change.....

gaiskarferner next to t-bar = not completely flat = steep

(obviously the bumps were the problem, not the steepness.)

Snowed today above Gampen 1800m in St. Anton. Wouldn't say it was a dump. Something around 2-4 inches by noon. Clear and colder now. Still not freezing in town, but its darn cold up top -11 at Valluga. Hoping for more tomorrow...

hey verb became WHITE to celebrate the retourn of the mighty mulletizer!!!

heavy rain up to 2100 this morning, but nice powder at the lac des vaux (no lift on work above 2600 m because of wind).. then finally in the afternoon some snow in verb (5-15 cm from the bottom to the top - sonalon area). I'll be at medran at 9 AM tomorrow to delivery my younger kid to the ski club and meet the mags. acid yellow eider jacket

    70cm in western suisse.
    40-50cm in verbier.

cham should have gotten 50cm+ as well but i don't have any actual figures because the aguille rouge station seems to be windblown.

much less in northern suisse (e-berg 15cm) and austria.

another 40-50cm at least on the way in the west

BUT horrible Avie conditions. Surface Hoar, REALLY bad bonding of the new snow, etc. be careful.

Lesw Houches was good this afternoon. Lots of gapers having trouble trying to ski the lift line. Knee deep fresh with no base whatsoever - CMH rock boards rule!
