Burning copies of protected DVD's - on an iMac

Is there any way? I cannot copy the DVD to my harddrive or make duplicate. Is there any other way around this on an iMac?

Get mac the ripper to rip it to your drive and then a copy of toast if you want to burn it to a dvd again. Otherwise just watch the ripped copy with vlc.

I've used DVD Shrink to rip it to your computer, then Vidomi to convert it to AVI for reduced storage - neither are the best solution, so any other suggestions would be useful.

I use DVD Decrypter to copy it to my harddrive, then I burn it in Nero, or if needs be shrink it using ShrinkTo5 before burning it.

dvdshrink works great for copying movies.

    On a side note.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the pesky watermarks some people put on their fotos?

Copying a movie you own to your computer isn't ripping it off.

Now go stick your dick back in McPoser's mouth.

    Getting back on track...

PM me and i'll shoot you a link to download the latest beta version of MacTheRipper. It works more movies than the last version does, like those pesky Disney movies. You'll need toast 7 or Roxio Popcorn to burn it.

Hard Days Night is the holy grail for me right now. Apple has a huge wall around their products. Otherwise, Mac the Ripper works 95% of the time.

It's a one application process. No need for Toast or others.

I know this is an alias, but despite what the fucks at the riaa/mpaa say, there are legitimate uses to making copies of dvd's that don't involve theft. After you're done sucking off McPoser, go bend over for the industry racketeers.

Ya Monkey & CJ I am sure all your burned movies and music are just backup incase you lose your originall bought copy. Probably never illegally downloaded any music etc.

I just think it is interesting that such a hallaballo is raised over downloaded pics but no comments on this practice. I understand that you are probably not submitting the work as your own (or selling it) and only using it for your own viewing or listening pleasure (like a photo for a screensaver) but the intellectuall property rights issue is the same.

Anyhow cheers, its just an observation.

yes, it is. it's also expensive, and the compression algorithms pale in comparison to DVDRemaster or even Toast's
...so I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

So that's why my copy of Anomaly was on a burnt disc

Way to make a jump from people talking about fair use to implying they are outright pirates just because they talk about fair use. 72twenty asked a legitimate question that in and of it self isn't an illegal action.

Ok I understand that profiting from stolen intellectual property is different than just using it for personnel use, but if photographic property is different from music, paintings, film etc. please explain.

I aplogize if I am wrong here. I know there are legitimate legal and moral reasons for bypassing protection software. I also am not guilt free here for I have a ton of music whose source is rather grey.

Just thought I'd throw a little thought into the topic since the threads on photography has had me rethink some of my views on such issues.

Fair use laws vs IP laws read up.
You probably think GNU and Open Source are the same thing too right?

You either stole it or you didn't. There is no middle ground.

If you want to argue IP vs Fair Use then make a new thread YOU STUPID FUCKING JONG.

Forgot about this thread. The hypocracy in this place fucking amazes me sometimes. Yes, I bet everyone makes copies of movies "as back ups."

Oh wait, nevermind, I forgot that video and music piracy are "sticking it to the man," so that's OK.

As people have said before, it's not ripping it off if you own it. My yearbook dvd is scratched or something from too much use. The way things SHOULD work, I should be sent another dvd. Somehow I don't think matchstick will do this. When you buy a dvd you should have the right to do whatever the fuck you want with it other than sell it. Yearbook is one of my favorite movies, I should not have to pay for it again.
