    Burning dvds....paging video heads!

Alright, I am at my wits end. I have 6 video clips that I created in Movie Maker and are now Windows Media Videos (WMV or WMA). How the hell do you put WMA's onto a DVD? Is it possible? Every time I try to burn it (yes I do have a DVD and DVD burner) nothing happens. I tried Nero last time and it seemed like it was successful, that is until I put into the DVD player, it just sat there "loading" forever. Then dropped it back in the computer drive and nothing showed.

you sure your DVD player will play burned DVDs. Alot of older ones won't recognize burned DVDs, or won't recognize certain types of burnable DVDs, like DVD-R

It definitely is my friend. However that doesn't help my much. Do I need to "convert" the wma before burning or anything like that?

And it is a brand new DVD RW/R, so that shouldn't be the issue.

you need DVD Pal/NTSC(depending i guess you got ntsc in the US) compatible .mpg audio and video. it is the only standard which is "officially" supported by DVD players.
the video would have to be(for pal) 720/576 pixels and 25fps
depending on the players you have to watch out for the videobitrate too.(mine doesn't play anything above 4800 kbits although DVD video should support more)
and if you want to make a "real" DVD and not just some large VCD/SVCD by putting the video directly on the DVD you'll need an authoring programm that creates the vob files for you.

it is not as complicated as it sounds though when you get rid of the windows thingy(or find a button which lets you encode in mpg) and start using real editing software premiere for example has built in mpg converters which give you perfect output. this would leave only one other problem: the authoring. there are some test/freeware programs out there which do the job.don't know any names though i use DVDlab pro.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Also, make sure you know if the software you are using requires a DVD+ or DVD-. Using the wrong one will fuck up the results.

2nd-ed. I cannot burn DVD video to DVD-, only DVD+. DVD- works fine for storing data. Of course i figured this out after making a bunch of coasters.

dvd- will work too (I burned 240 dvd- this morning). you just need to use an authoring tool that will create video dvds-see subtle plague's post
