Soooo tempted to buy a pair of these. Just got my yearly bonus at work, and I have a 15% off tramdock coupon....
How much ski is this compared to the Ant or the BD?

    Thumbs up

Talked on the phone w/ someone at 4frnt. The skis that have any camber whatsoever are being recalled back to be fixed. They should be TOTALLY flat.

My skis should be here in 2 weeks.
    Drive slow, homie.

Fixed? I wonder if that involves jamming them between basement stairs and bending them

They were made by Elan so it isn't like they are going to mail them back to Slovenia. WTF Fixed? Give them to me for a couple days and I'll flatten them out for ya. The pair I sold to Freeskisquaw were very close to flat. We are getting 2 more pair in at Sierra if you guys are interested.

The 4frnts in general all look way better and are made better now that they are built by Elan. Option effed them over last year so now they are moving on up to the EU like everyone else.

My pair is coming in from Salt Lake this week, we'll see how flat they are.

    camber

The ehp 193's at Porters in truckee, Ca have quite a bit of camber. Pretty weird for a ski that's supposed to be zero camber under foot.

What would the price on those two pairs you're getting be?

So how much more ski are the 193 EHP's over the Ant or the Big Daddy? I know they're quite a bit wider, but how do they compare in gnar-gnarness?
I've read the review Professor did last Cinco de Mayo, but he warmed up on 193 103's, so I anyhting will pretty much seem tame after that.

They're a big gun and stiff but the flat camber/reverse aspect makes them surprisingly maneuverable. Compared to my 189 Squads they are just as stable at speed but far easier to initiate or end a turn - much quicker when you need that.

Sounds tasty. So if I can handle orginal BD's or Ants I'm probably ok? Just trying to figure out if they're like explosiv/stiff bro stiff or STIFF!!!
(Sorry to bug everyone, I'd go find 'em and flex them but there aren't any within a few hours of me, and I usually end up having to buy stuff sight unseen...)

They're not as stiff as explosivs. Especially not the 190 sploders. Not even close really.

Of course the ones I saw were "defective"

Eric Hjoralphabet isn't that big of a guy.

I'm going to have to go with Particle's on snow evaluation of stiffness over a shop flex.

    See above and this.

That's really what I've been excited about; finding a ski that's 'progressive' in taking some of the design ideas from skis like the Spat and taking the best of those qualities while retaining the skis' usability for getting down the groomers without feeling like you're going to die. I could see using the 193's as an almost-everyday ski; I'd still want something in the oh 98mm waist range, ya know - carving width for non-pow days. But as far as ideally combining non-cambered, slightly rockered soft snow performance with enough edge and stiffness to actually handle groomers - this ski is the shit.

What really spoke to me about them was that my very first run on them, I felt completely totally comfortable. They disappeared under my feet and I was just able to make the turns I wanted to make, let em run, make smaller turns, do whatever. They were easy to ski - they are significantly longer tip-to-tail than my 189 Squads and not much softer (they are quite stiff), but I felt totally comfortable and in control. Good stuff. Must find a pair of my own now.

Mine came and are now on the way back to 4frnt.

Here is the kicker, both skis had stickers on the tails that read "made in Tunisia".

    WTF?
