    Denver Area First Aid Classes?

Where can I get some education? Tried to search on REI but found nothing.

Lots of classes. 1st Aid/CPR/AED, Wilderness 1st Aid, etc...

I've never taken a Red Cross course, but am going to do the instructors course for work in Dec.

Also, WMI has a Wilderness 1st Aid course next weekend in Boulder, and a bunch of other lined up for the next few months.

Just got OSHA level one certified in CPR and First Aid a couple of days ago. Since the 2005 (I think) CPR changes, the only thing you need to know is, 2 rescue breathes, 30 chest compressions as fast as you can, repeat. Bleeding, use pressure. Of course there is WAY more, but that’s the basics.

Actually I just thought if you kick somebody in the nuts really hard they'll wake up. Does that work?

Yeah me too! It's the GF birthday on Friday, so she says since it's Friday it turns into a birthday weekend. With all the new snow coming, I hope I can get out on Sunday.

    Edit: "...get out on Sunday."

    seconded

and I doubt that the Red Cross Wilderness 1st Aid is comparable to WMI's.

I've taken about every class you can think of over the years (WFA, WFR, EMT, OEC) and the WFR is by far the best and most relevant for backcountry skiers. The 10 day time commitment is big, and it's not cheap, but it's worth it.

and BZ - your girlfriend is right. A Friday birthday means that the birthday sphere of influence runs through the weekend. You are going to be busy.

WFR taken through CMC is CHEAP (<$200 of in state) do it

and a first aid class is a first aid class... a WFA is a WFA... they are courses for john q public that take a few hours

That's a good deal for that class.

A class is a class, but the instructors are the difference. I have taken OEC from some mighty big ass-clowns who aren't qualified to put a Band-Aid on their own boo boos, let alone teach OEC. And I have taken it from some very well qualified and experienced instructors that I learned a hell of a lot from. Same with EMT to a lesser degree.

My goal is to teach WFA & WFR through WMI, but I want to start with Red Cross so I can get some classroom experience and be able to teach our required 1st Aid/CPR/AED at work. I hope I don't come off like one of those ass-clowns.

    ^^^^^^^^ Right on^^^^^^^^^^^
Be wary of the Red Cross Instructors - I took CPR/First Aid a couple years ago at the Red Cross in Boulder. The instructor was more concerned in getting us certified than making sure we understood the material. He condensed a two day, 16 hour course into a one day 6 hour course. I feel like I learned CPR, but the first aid part of the class was a joke.

I plan on taking my WFR this summer when I have some time off.
