    WTB: Probe

Looking for a roughly 3 meter probe. prefer carbon, minimal plastic. markings for depth and wire for the drawstring. HOWEVER, i am open to ANY right now, mine is 80" and that just does NOT cut it. pm me if you have something and/or know where i might find something

    Thanks for looking

Both BCA and Ortovox have new models this year, that looked really good at ISSW.

60bucks, light, strong, super fast draw, 300cm, graduated, alternating segments, adjustable tension, steel cable, slightly oversized head for easy snow penetration, made by a great company with a great warranty. you cannot go wrong

probably qualifies for free shipping like most other things on backcountry.
plus if you have the 10% maggot code, thats even cheaper.

    Consider ease of use.

If you plan on using your probe a lot, like for a scale in your pits or probing LZ's (glacial travel), get one of the new easy throw designs with a cone on each section. Most everyone is coming out with that feature this year. First time I used the new BCA probe, I tossed it out and had it completely tensioned and locked before it hit the ground.
