I'm going to Vegas and I need help

My Gf's cousin is ggetting married in Vegas on November 11th and we gotta be there. I'll be working from LA that week and the gf is flying down from Portland. We do not yet have plane tix nor a hotel res. Usually this is no big deal, but unfortunately this weekend is a big one for Vegas: 3 conventions, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and probably a bunch of other dumb reasons the hotels are asking $450/night for $60 rooms.

How can I get a room cheaper in Vegas during these dates?
Arifare can be worked out reasonably cheap, but my gf just got laid off from her job and I can't afford $450 for a crash pad.

    Ideas?

Hit up Wahamma 88 with a pm. He works at the Wynn and his gf works at teh Bellagio. They've got a few connections in town. They may be able to help you out in one way or another.

I'm in Vegas now (again, dammit) -- in one of the 2 most-convenient-to-me hotels I stay at here -- both on Dean Martin Dr., off the strip (basically across I-15 from the Mirage/Bellagio end of the strip) --

either the Marriott Fairfield or Marriott Courtyard on Dean Martin will do you fine. There's also a Marriott Residence Inn on Dean Martin, but it's usually a bit more $, and I don't care about the kitchen facilities that come with the Residence Inn, so I don't bother with it. All 3 are nearly new, built around 2004, all decently nice but not luxo-glamorous.

Try one of these places. Should be cheap(ish).

There are a lot of second tier resorts off the Strip- Orleans, Texas Station, et al and their rates are usually pretty good and they give you the Vegas experience. I've heard that there's cheap lodging in Henderson, not too far from Vegas.

Doood! You gonna be in Los Angeles?! PM coming...

Not working for P.Bucks, whatever that is. I'm working for an internet company started by David and Jerry.

Big reason rooms are so spendy then is the comedy convo dealio is in Vegas the 14th-18th. BTW-If you're posting on the net while on vacation in Vegas, you need a swift and hard kick to the nutsack. Get out and enjoy.

You wanna slum it, Pete. I understand. Try the Motel 6 on Tropicana. If that doesn't work, try the Super 8 and wear your best crackhouse and hos attire. I had to stay there because of some big fight last winter and it was.... interesting.

Sluming it I am... The glorious Ambassador Inn travelodge 1 block off the strip. When everyone on the strip is charging $400 plus, the ambASSador has us covered for a mere $200 for the whole weekend.
