Danno, Alias, and everyone else: I am so sorry.

Not a dog but today we had to put down our beautiful cat of 13 years - she was loyal, sweet, and endlessly patient with our son - here she is just yesterday, exposing her belly and letting him pet her, even when she must have been in immense pain.

a few other pics of her and Arlo

    rest easy, Big Girl

So sorry for you loss Tgapp. I can't tell you how many tears I have shed for a kitty leaving before me. Animals can be like children to me and having them depart hurts every time.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

My dog keeps reminding me that I'll have to post here before im ready. But then he has good days in a row. Its that the bad days are more frequent and he doesn't bounce back as far anymore. He turned 16 recently. Ive been preparing my [adult] kids and asking them how involved they want to be. The little stinker does seem to think hes entitled to a stroll down the sidewalk every evening. So we do the amount hes capable of. Hes also engaged in a game of chicken with me. He wants treats before dinner. But the treats come after his insulin shot. And he cant get tge shot without eating at least a few tablespoons of food, hes small. He is definitely testing me regarding the absolute minimum amount he can eat and get his things. He usually eats more after, but i cant count on that. Doc says a TBS or two or no shot and no food until the next 12 hour increment. So most days it isnt his appetite, its tgat he wants the good stuff. He knows that there are better, tastier things. I fed him a few meals one morsel at a time out of sheer determination, which he happily ate out of my hand with a shit eating grin. Eyeroll. His gabapentin goes in roast beef and peanut butter. That's his favorite thing in tge world, so he gets it last. Ive had to resort to giving tgat sooner, because the little beef "scraps" go in his dish, which makes him eat more. He likes pate toppers. Anyone know any healthy ones that come in tiny portions? Remember, hes diabetic. A few good ones that he likes just dont come in small enough containers so I have to throw a lot out after a few days. Also, we think his absolute favorite one gives him diarrhea. That's not fun. Im hoping it was just food poisoning. LOL.

Very sorry for your loss of Rudy, Shred. Peace to you and your family.

Riser, that's all very hard times with some very good times sprinkled in. I totally get it, I hope you and your pup have more good days than hard ones in these golden years.

The grief you feel after the loss, is just the love tax. Nice having another dog, in his prime.

It is impossible to love someone or an animal so much and not have their passing crush you. Oddly the passing of my animals has always hurt so much more than the people. All I can figure it's the animals were always little angels and the people, well they're fuckers sometimes.
