Forum issues: word from TGR HQ

I'm kinda shocked at how dead the traffic is here anymore. A single post will stay on top of the PR (and other forums) all day, maybe a few. I know a shiny new forum is right around the corner, but the way all the site down time and broken functionality drove off the community that was so strong for decades is way more severe than I could ever have thought.

It kinda sux when I have no reason to hang out here because there is nobody around and end up talking to my wife more.

I think it is mostly not "traffic is down because the site is hard to use" so much as it is "I can't access the site, it looks down, it looks gone, I can't login, so I'm going elsewhere" [pick one]. Everyone currently here has either gotten lucky or has been told elsewhere how to make the current shitshow work. But if you're not a member of the FB group and you go to your usual links, here's what happens: the link like this https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/3/ gives you a 404 page, but a specialized TGR 404 page. So, hey, you think, there's a link to "forums" up there, lemme click that. And because you use TGR Blue and clicked a link that goes to the "main forum page", it goes white/blank. Most people walk away at that point, right?

Facebook? I just googled tgr and used the main page forum link, once it went back to working. I figured it'd be back eventually.

I think a lot of people will trickle back as winter rolls around and if things work. But lots of people try the normal shit and then move on. Normal shit may be "google" but it might not.

Correct, if I'm on my PC that is as far as I get. At least on my Android I can quote you and then post for 5 minutes and then that's all I got has no one's around. The great news is all the assholes I had on ignore haven't bothered to find a way back in.

All good points Danno, I think it was broke so long that people stopped trying. Now that it’s back to base level functionality, people may try but get the ol 404 page does not exist. As someone pointed out, simply linking to the new url would have been the bare minimum fix to keep up the engagement.

I just hope the uploaded/posted pics come back. The pics of the late Hawaiian tropic guys house in the zillow gems thread aren't online any longer, and that has been my go to baseline for judging bad decisions in home design/remodel/decorating.

yeah actualy I have been logged in forever but one morning there was the white screen so I check ever day to see if somthing new has happened but if I cant see anything it just look FUBARED

until I got in it some other way I think it was when googling TGR I clicked on a different link than the main forum list

I was never any good at driving computers but still it was important to never show fear and somehow get the box running

For me, the barometer of whether this site is even remotely useable is the apostrophe. If it ain&#39;t working it irritates me to the point of really not wanting to bother. and it still ain&#39;t working.

Not sure where you get base level functionality from B Mills as it is not anywhere close for me. I cannot use my PC to access the site. To log in I have to quote someone, in this case you. This site is complete dog shit in my opinion, but hey I love dogs, so I keep coming back hoping that sparky's massive case of diarrhea has resolved itself.
