Is it a thermal carafe? I bought a Black and Decker thermal carafe one a few months ago, this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LU2I3V0 It keeps the coffee hot for a few hours.

If you still have the Cuisinart just put it on an external timer.

If simple solutions worked in situations like the ones in this thread, the thread wouldn’t exist, and I wouldn’t have laughed as much.

    It’s not about the nail.

Yeah, we are exchanging it for one of those apparently.
I'm still suspicious that it will be as good as the old one but apparently, ever since we got it for our wedding 15 years ago, it has been the wrong color, but I never knew it...

I also have a Cuisinart grind and brew and can say that the as far as keeping coffee warm, the Black and Decker seems to do the job just as well.

Exactly. So many of the stories are stuff we’ve heard before and it’s still hilarious.

Question is, do you think you got your money back (or more?) in the sale. I.e., if the remodel was 50k do you think you got 50k more for your house than you would have had you not done the remodel?

Real estate conventional wisdom is that you never come close to breaking even in that scenario.

Yep that's what I've always read also. As far as coffee makers are concerned, just buy a cheap Mr coffee at Costco they work great and last forever.

I bought this place from Dean the painter cuz he was gettin married and she had a house. Buddy did everything pretty well or well enough cuz he was atempting to build the ultimate-man-cave for himself so the place even has a huge bar but mainly this was like the only house i could afford without getting a job period cuz it had the income producing suite.

The Deaners marriage didnt last very long and so my long term tennant has been down there paying $$$$$ longer than Dean was married, she is doing all the gardening and this year got strong enough to cut the grass in spite of her last stroke

    life is suite eh

BTW I had one of those B&D carrafe makers > 20 yars ago and they actutaly work fine if you are not into the whole coffee snob thing, not sure where mine went but for a cheap drip machine its good

That is conventional wisdom but is too broad. I remodeled my house, kitchen and bathrooms, for maybe $80k. And sold 5 years later for -- based on comps and other listings -- about $80k more than if we never remodeled. So sometimes it pays off. But while we didn't do any of the work, we carefully shopped for all materials and often chose things that were fairly cheap but looked high end or found bargains on high end stuff. That made a big difference.

Selling five years later is a bit different than selling immediately.

The only place i ever worked on or remodeled was back in the day I did a family room/ laundry room/ extra bathroom/shed ll myself cuz I had a new fam an unsmart wife and I had no money but since then just like all those cheapsuits I buy off the rack

I looked at this place for 1/2 hr and said hmmm everything is done OK enough so I can buy that and move right in and to collect rent so I made an offer by e-mail he wanted 239 K and I ground him down to 239K cuz it was ONLY house i could afford ! Smart move cuz that was bottom of market and its been going up for 15 yrs

I bet Deaner regrets selling his pad based on everything youve said.

well nobody gets married thinking they will be getting unmarried but " who can say what tomorrow brings " which was a boomer rock song covered by many and the deaner does have 2 pretty nice looking sons

L hutz Esq wrote the purchase agreement for free becuz he would get all the other fees and disbursements and the best part he would not have to deal with RE agents wanking up the deal. On the way to sign the papers/ get the key I ran into a ski bud who rents the basement for > 2 yrs he said 700 a month is 200 a month more that out at the lake but i spend > 200 an month on fuel to drive in and sometime drivetipsy so done deal eh

I just want to thank the Amercians for shitting the bed on the credit swap file so due to the market down turn it allowed me to get back in the RE game,

A ski bud used to ask how do you walk with all those horse shoes up your ass and so i blame it on the booze and drugs
