Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Miss Mayhem lived up to her name and ate a wild baby bunny rabbit. It is amazing what a cruel joke mother nature played on those creatures. Mayhem is still an asshole.

Baby Skye was super pissed to be stuffed into a cat carrier and sent off to the vet a few minutes ago. But it's been 18 months so it's time. Her outside in the catio during happier moments

^ That there is a very pretty kitty.

We just adopted this guy after being catless for about a year. He's ~3 years old, and came to the humane society as a stray. I don't think he was a stray for long because he has very nice manners! Butters is his name... well, that's the name him came with and we're gonna roll with it. He's 15 lbs of snuggles and fur that is already all over the house. I think we got lucky with this one.

Your guy is super cute too. Our oldest cat started out as being able to go outside, but when her sister was hit by a car, we said no more of that shit and built them a catio. She still always wants out and my daughter kids me and says oh yeah, sure, let her go and get flattened, then we can get an orange cat.

Anyone ever have a cat that experienced micro strokes?

I think one of mine has had 3 since September. Vet thinks it's petite mal seizures but my online sleuthing leads me to think otherwise.

Not a cat, but my old dog (rip). Saw the vet next day, but dog was fine by then. From my description vet could not determine stroke or seizure. Vet said next time use your phone and make a video. Week later same thing happened so I took a video. Vet took one look and said stroke.

Hope the best for your kitty. Sending vibes.

Same with my cat re: being fine by the time you get to the vet.

I should have taken a vid during the last one. It's the only one I saw so I guess I was too focused on watching what was happening and helping him.

First time it happened I was just about to go to bed and he came in the room dragging his hind leg like it was broken but otherwise seemed okay. I freaked and loaded him into a crate and made the hour drive to the nearest emergency vet at midnight and I don't do well driving at night. Got there and they took him back bringing him out 15mins later pronouncing him fine.

That was in the beginning of September. 7 weeks ago he was dragging his leg again (not sure if it was the same). Took him into the vet the next day for tests and vet said blood work looked good. However this time he limped for several days after. Vet gave me gabapentin to give him daily but he wouldn't take the powder on his food so we decided to go with the liquid administering it if and when he had another episode.

A week ago today we were relaxing on the couch when he started to act odd. Nothing big but something told me he wasn't right. He kept rearranging himself and oddly waving his right front paw in the air. Then he was unable to retract the claws on his right paw (kept catching on everything) then from the ankle joint down he had prawn pawn (curled) and would walk it that way. Also his toe beans were cold and clammy. He cried some but not a lot. Self soothed with loud purring and I thought one pupil was bigger than the other. Otherwise he was looking around and appeared normal. He could jump up and down off the couch even with prawn paw.

I gave him the gabapentin and it kicked in about an hour and a half later allowing him to relax and sleep.

The next morning he was limping but came out from his favorite hiding spot for breakfast. He's been limping all week but it seems better today. His personality is back though he's not hunting his toys at night or sleeping on the bed with me.

I did take him in to the vet where we discussed everything and the vet voiced his opinion that it's petite mal seizures but the limb weakness makes me think it's something more. During the episode I saw there was nothing that happened that might have caused a pulled muscle. It was all very calm.

I think I'm going to ask him to look into the stroke idea because it's possible to treat underlying conditions that cause a stroke thus preventing them.

    Just posting for other's experience/opinions.

It does seem like orange cats are disproportionately friendly, and that was really our only criteria for this one--must be orange!

Edit to say that he's settled in well, seems to be enjoying having full run of the house. He eats a lot... 1-1.25 cups of food a day right now. Not sure if that's entirely appropriate but he's a lean guys and probably 15-18lbs.

As my friend used to say: pets are just little tragedies waiting to happen.

I'm pretty much at the end of my rope when it comes to animals. When the last of what I have now goes that will be it for me. I just can't take losing them anymore and the older I get the greater the chance they could lose me or I have to give them away because I have to move.

I'll bury him today bu the shade of the trees where all the rest are buried. Half a dozen cats and 4 horses.

Ah shit, I’m so sorry to hear that. Deep heartfelt condolences, KQ.

I’m with you as far as not being able to lose them any more and then worrying that they will outlast me and then what?

I’m sorry for your loss KQ. Pets are friends, and it’s always hard to lose a friend. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get another dog, I’m still not over the last one and it’s been almost 10 years now. Of course, I never actually got any of these animals in the first place. They just show up needing help and it seems I never can turn one away.

Losing them is so hard, I lost my shit so hard when Maya left me behind and still get all teared up when I think of her.
At 66 I am feeling my age these days and worry that I will not be around long enough to take care of the puppies and our younger cats until the end. I was talking to my daughter about that yesterday and she told me not to worry I'll live into my 80s or 90s, but she did promise to take care of the animals if I check out sooner. So yeah, you got to have a backup plan KQ for someone to help you if things go south and you leave them behind.
