Skied kicking horse the last 3 days. Had a lot of fun, even if the snow was just ok. Had to head home today and kinda bummed I missed the storm. So it goes.

Was out all last week at KH as well with the kids. Hiked our asses off and found soft turns all over the place. Was the kids first time and it was so fun to experience it thought there eyes. The first time you crest the ridge into the alpine and get a full look at the T1 face is a serious holy shit moment. It really is a special feeling mountain. 4th time there and definitely the lowest tide I've experienced, but it is amazing how well it was skiing considering. Happy to see the weather come, for the local folks who've been on a pow diet this year.

    Damn. Anyone hurt?

Edit: Good to hear people mostly OK. That's scary. Glad it didn't happen any higher.

Earlier this season at fernie, there was a lot of discussion about how RCR puts as little money as possible into maintenance and upgrades. It would seem that sooner or later, that catches up.

Knew one the guys inside, only dudes no kids, and he was no use for wear as he was on the top. As started one guy got gooseegg and one guy shoulder injury.Failure was in bent steel pipe that curves down from the wire clamp to the top of gondi. Failure right at point it starts to curve.

They are going to have to xray all the other gondola arms at the least I would think.

I would think PMI magnetic particle inspect or die penetrant would work but RT would work too . Probably depends on the examination of the failure. Set up a tent and scaffolding at base and run them all through. Buy some replacement arms right away.

Just talked to the drunk guys who have the place next door. they were just above the grizzly preserve and it took them 7 hours to get evac’ed.

anyone holding a discount to LL tomorrow? or have skins for sale in Golden?

tried out the nordork trails here this afternoon for something to do - and it’s a great and place staffed by awesome people - but pushing through wet mank for a couple of hours on ungroomed classic was not the best xc i’ve ever done.

feels like winter is giving up faster than the maintenance guys that had to ask RCR for money to inspect the lifts properly.

RCR has a contact us email on their website
A email blast from disgruntled customers probably wont do much but cant hurt
Its not just KH being neglected but also Fernie, Nakiska, Jasper, Quebec
Anyone else sick of the super slow chairs at Fernie?

I was chatting to the same guys, from Sask?

Fucking RCR called them up and said if they didn’t get their rentals back before 4:30 they would be charged an extra day. They were still in the gondola.

Hill is open tomorrow with catamount and Pioneer. Pioneer will definitely break down if it runs full time.

Interesting to see what happens with RCR dragging the cabin out of there 15 minutes after it happened with no chance of an investigation. I hope Murray gets his ass handed to him by the province. Gross negligence for sure.

Meanwhile, I had my skins and was five minutes ahead of the chaos and skied pow in the slack all day with no one around. Best day of the year. Unfortunately, basically the last day.

Fuck Murray Edward’s and I feel bad for all the staff that have to face the repercussions of him being a piece of shit.

I don’t know if it was those guys, but i couldn’t place their accent. i stuck my head out to chat with them as they were heaving a bag of trash off the third floor of the condo building and i asked them if they were trying to hit the tesla. nope, they were trying to hit their buddy. uhhh ok then? they were in good spirits despite it all.

glad you had a good time in the slack.

it sounds like if they’re running lifts then maybe they’re going to be chasing people away if they put skins on?

    what a joke.
