get a GFT. No point in getting a boot with a huge walk mode and speed noses that aren't compatible with alpine boots just to make it walk like shit with a gara. At that point you should just get a solid cross over boot and commit to the cause.

the GFT is a lot softer than the Gara but otherwise fit is nearly the same. Thinner cuff and a little less material over the instep. Same cork, same construction on the liner (layers). You can add straps to the ridge if you really want to stiffen it.

also, but a walk mode into your FX race and it will blow your mind while barely skiing any different.

"Non Zipfit specific question but is all silicone spray created equal? Can I buy a can of DuPont Silicone spray from Ace instead of using bootfitter specific spray that I’d have to order online?"

I just got some of this UHMW tape and placed on the back of my shell and it works well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

I got a can of food safe silicone spray and have been using it for a couple of seasons with no ill effects. I only put a light spritz on the inside spine of the boot every 10-15 days though.

What thickness tape do you use?

I lost the thread where a link to the new true touring zipfits was posted. Does anyone know offhand how much does that liner weight vs the GFT? Can I expect it to last for ever like a zipfit or is it more like intuition lining on the foam?

I have 25.5 Gara HV liners in Lange RX130 25.5 shells. Heated the liners then added some additional cork in areas around my lower calf
that needed some filling. I haven't touched them in a year which is great because the cork doesn't compress and my fit says the same. Having a
liner that doesn't pack out is money.

For you guys above thread spraying and taping for ease of entry, why not just buy a boot horn? Makes world cupping so much easier.

Re taping and spraying…I have three boot horns. One hangs in my truck, one is in my heated boot bag and one is in my ski pack. They’re pretty dang portable.

Paid fifteen dollars for one and got a couple of freebies from a ski shop. Ya it’s a pain but leather lined Zipfits are worth it.

I heard to tape the bottom to let the toe slide in easily without bunching.

Do people actually use the Velcro cuff strap across the shin on zipfit liners? Under the shell overlap? Over the first flap?

I’ve had mine for years, and was always kind of annoyed with the pressure spot in that area/harsh flex stop when really leaning forward, and it only just occurred to me I can just take the stupid strap out entirely... So much better flex feel to the boot without it, and much more even pressure across my entire shin. I pull the plastic cinch piece above the liner too, as it’s also in the worst spot under the front shell overlap if it’s cinched tighter there

In hindsight seems obvious I should have removed them a long time ago, seems odd they come with the Velcro strap in the first place

Not a long term zipfit vet, but I removed mine on my GFTs (paired with ZGTP) and like it on my Garas (paired with Lange RS 140s). The booster on my ZGTP works best under the shell in place of the zipfit and the rom improvment without it is huge. I like the strap on the Garas though as it seems to work well with the Lange strap over the top of the shell and the zipfit underneath. I have not thought to remove it yet as it seems to be fine and causing me no shin pain.

I like the Zipfit strap (Gara) and the laces. I have really skinny legs though, so in a way it helps take up a little volume. Booster strap as well, nothing over the cuff.

Any recommendations on going with the freeride or workhorse? I took the zipfit quiz, I have a mach1 MV that had the toes very stretched, thinner heels, and thicker calves.

I have the Workhorse in Nordica Strider [emoji637][emoji638][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]’s. The leather on the inside of the Workhorse liner is magic.

Absolutely love my workhorse. I have a match with the gara hv and workhorse. Chose the work horse for the leather and super glad I did.

@kc_7777 In comparison to the OEM Nordica liner, how well does the Workhorse tour?

Anybody have success with one boot brand over another for stuffing garas in? My XT3's are absolutely stuffed to the point that the overlap closure is sometimes an issue, particularly in the throat. Great feel otherwise...

Are you using a plastic piece, (a ski boot horn), to put them on? It makes it a ton easier.

Re the strap on the liner, on my Sidewinders I left it on and tuck the lace slider behind it, I don't feel either of them, in my Lange Heritage which is a RS/RX hybrid I world cup every morning, I gave up on finding a tape that works and stays stuck as all the adhesive that seeps out drove me nuts.
Interestingly enough I have an Armada AR One for testing which is a cabrio hybrid and it is harder to put on then the Lange.

Does anyone have experience using zips in two pairs of boots? Currently running some Gara HVs in a pair of Hawx and want to use the same liner in a pair of Hawx XTDs (same volume). Ideally I'd like to swap back and forth between the shells but I don't know if punching specific spots or fully heat molding the shells to the zips would be the better approach. I had one fitter recommend punches to keep a performance fit, with the downside that the liner could be more compressed in one boot than the other, while another shop recommended heat molding the shells, with the downside that the fit might be a little less precise.
