After two laps I was faster than on my Katana 108s. R105s kind of remind me of the older Katanas, just thinner and more playful. High praise. Probably my new daily drivers, but theres lots of rocks starting to poke out and I want them to last long time.
Hell yes. You're on the big boys, right?

    So, v2!
I see the different character amongst lengths has been retained.
I gotta decide between 178 and 185. Input welcomed.
    Me:
    -5'9 155lb
-I ski fast but back injuries have encouraged a bit more smooth style and less recklessness. I'll still jump off things if landings are soft.
-primary hill is Alpental, where the specialty is tight steep terrain and funky snow. Lots of bumps and trees and side stashes with very limited groomers
-pow ski is 185 OG Ren. Current everything else ski is 177 OG Enforcers. In general I've been happy with the shorter length and manueverability of the 177s, but those have only a tiiiny bit of early rise and no tail rocker, so the running length is quite a bit longer than either FL105 flavor
-goal is to get something with a bit better float and pivot than the Enforcers for most upper mountain days. I'll probably keep the enforcers for goofing around on nights and days with the kids.

Yes! Actually the year after that one (lightning bolt) which I've seen described as OG1.5?
Also $850 wtf?! But they have backcountry telemark Dukes so it makes sense.

I would err shorter on these for alpental, I’m 6’3” and 200 on the 185s and they have more speed than we have space. You’re welcome to try them out if you have a 305mm or bigger boot.

I'm similarly sized to Carl and have the 185's. I love my FR110's at Alpental when it's soft and feel the AM100 would be the perfect low tide ski here if you are restricting yourself to HL. I love the FL105's at Crystal though

I was 75.6cm from the tails and that was sitting too rearward within my brain. I was close to 2cm behind your rearward rec.

Will get ‘em out again soon and hoping to feel a bit more in command vs the “this is really fun, but is it safe?” feeling I had take 1.
Night and day. The above move put me at -10.4, about .5 up for the recommended-11. Skied them yesterday on all sorts of (mostly soft) Jay Peak conditions and absolutely loved them. Was on autopilot pilot vs previously feeling like I was getting pulled down the hill at the speed of sound. Officially in the love club.

6' 1" 165 on the 185 FL105s. I would size down. I would also say for Alpy, depending on your skier type there are probably HL skis that are much better suited for you and the terrain. My impression of the FL is that it loves wide open spaces, and speeds above 30. That said I am pretty light, a heavier and or stronger skier would have a different impression.

Got another day on 193 R105s yesterday. They will most likely become my new daily drivers. I like them quite a bit more than Katana 108s for sure. They are looser, more surfy and more playful, quicker edge to edge, and they don’t lose any grip underfoot. With that looseness and “playfulness” they are not as precise feeling as Katana 108s in the tips and tails, and obviously they have no camber suspension underfoot landing bigger airs..but otherwise I think they ski better than K108s most places.

I mounted Pivots at -11.1cm for 325 BSL

They have a surprising amount of greasiness and that “video game” feel of just going wherever you think to go on the mountain in different conditions. However you can easily reel that feeling in and they turn into serious business skis, they have a huge speed limit and I found them more predictable above 50mph than K108s. More like Dynastar Pro Riders in smoother, open terrain.

They handle moguls very well. All sizes, icey or soft and in between. Not quite as good as M4 Mantras in huge bumps, but they aren’t far off. R105s handle quick, back to back shorter turns really well, but then also have that 35m feel when you want. It’s all very intuitive to change style up, and you just think and they do.

These are exactly what I was looking for. I want to try more variations of the FL105.

I only have one day on my 178cm FL105s in a proper mount position and I skied a lot of tight technical terrain. I did not find them to be overbearing in that environment in any way. Quite the opposite. Confidence inspiring and charge-tastic. Tight ec trees, open space with soft bumps/cut pow, and steep rocky rooty chutes. They just destroyed it all.

Yeah man, of the FL105v2, i'd go for the 178cm for sure. But given the OG Ren pow ski... strongly suggest taking a look at the Am100 180cm as well.

I gotta sell some stuff, and figure out all my finances so I can get FL105 V2s.

I know I’m getting a pow ski from HL this year, but I’d like to figure out how to add another 105.

Maybe I can scoop up a lightly used set of FL105 V1s from someone itching for V2s..

Thanks for the input, MO and others. The slightly increased width and directionality of the FL105 speaks to me more but I will ponder the AM100.

The R105s are so good everywhere. I haven’t wanted to take anything else out. They make quick work of shitty conditions, with or without moguls, and they make it fun.

After spending the first hours today on the FL116SEs, I switched over to the slayers for a few runs.

First impressions: very intuitive, wants skier input, but was rewarded with a good blend of damp and poppy. Skied softer than they hand-flex, which for me is a good thing.

Conditions were shallow, heavy, soft cut-up, so pretty much hero snow for these skis. Really looking forward to more time on these.

MO: make this shape in a 50/50 lay-up, and I’ll be very interested for a everyday tourer
