Assume the entire cable was slipping? It's a fixed-grip, right?

Went for some night skiing at West. Snowed all night and everything off the groomers was soft and enjoyable all the way down to the base area. Weather ranged from heavy storm conditions to a light mist, but all precip was solid and winds were light. If temps hold tomorrow should be pretty great!

Is anyone else on Ikon and not getting the $5 parking codes? I reserved yesterday..no code...parked without paying $60 after tax...isntead of $5...and now I got a violation...feels super unfair.

I called them this morning about not getting a code, and they finally returned my call at 4pm when I was leaving the mt. The gal on the phone said I would be getting a ticket, but email the parking service your code and say you never got it in time, and they will reduce to $5.

For anyone else, she said go to the ticket window, and they will email you the code there... Super disorganized and a pita.

Great day on the padded chair. Deep snow, shit vis, and good times. Chair 5 never ran which was a bummer...I'm just stoked to ride it eventually.

Has chair 5 ran since it bonked on opening day Friday?

Rode the new Wildside lift this AM and found 7 inches of heavy taters over a firm base. Visibility was in and out with flat light combined with wet snow falling. On the positive - most of the crowd stayed on the PC chair so no waits!

It was running today circa 12:30 or so and was loading till 3 pm Sunday. That said not a great look it wasn’t first half of the day.

In other news E-Gate popped. Fun but Masochistic turns were had. I was a slow learner today as I found holes in both rockface and lower roxoff. Lower mtn really needs a cold and windy storm or two to fill in the crazy crevices and creeks.

Was able to get a few turns in at Alpental this afternoon. Wish the bump fields were as flat as the light, but all in all a pretty good time and coverage seemed decent. Only got one run from the top and felt completely lost and partially blind, so looking forward to exploring it more when I have the time and vis.

Temps hovered around freezing in the lot, but didn't transition to rain until about 2200ft on the way back to town around 4pm.

Hit the hyak opening this morning. Lift opened on time and snow was soft but heavy. Lots of rollers to pop off but many were hiding holes on the backside, my landing legs got worked over. Rampart wasn’t running so some of the best turns were on blowdown then heading back to the main lift.

Lots of soft snow to be had in and out of the poor vis.
Move upside and let the man go through...

I know it's been asked multiple times, but any recommendations for an orthopedic knee specialist in Issaquah/Eastside? Fractured my tibial plateau in the poor viz this morning. Season is over but hopefully not next season with the right doc. If you saw a sled going down by the Internationale Chair around 11:30, that was me.

Took almost an hour to get the sled there, but patrol was great.

OPA Ortho isn't Eastside but have some of the more well regarded knee surgeons by the ortho docs I know

No recommendation, but just some encouragement that I had the same injury and haven't noticed any lasting effect from it. Granted my knees were trash long before that and it didnt require surgical repair, but the "no weight bearing" for close to 2 months was the worst part of it all.

Thanks, man. I actually really appreciate that. I'm pretty sure it will take surgery due to the displacement, but glad to hear recovery was OK. I'm hoping it's still a great last year for the padded seats. At least my last ride on 2 had a beautiful, foggy view of the pass.

Plus I got an awesome run down Shot 6 for my last real run off 2.

I thought there was, but couldn't find it. Thanks for the link.

    What happened?
I was coming off Internationale down to ski Felsen and right before I got to the E Gate track, I went over a roller that dropped off the back side. Buried both tips in the snow off the backside. Visibility was horrible so didn't see it coming. Weight carried my upper body forward and chest almost hit my quads. Felt a stretch and then a pop. Originally thought it was ACL, but the pain was below the knee. Bindings (Pivot 15) never released. Tried to ski down, but couldn't stand or move the right leg.

I've had similar crashes but this one definitely felt worse. I'm just getting old [emoji23]

No doc suggestions but hope you heal up quick, that’s a bummer way to start the season. I can ask around if you don’t get any good recommendations.

Man that sucks! I didn't see the sled but the flat light made some sections tricky today. That must have been not long after the chair we shared?

Really sorry to hear about the TPF. I went through this a couple of years ago. Ski tip went into a hole, hung up on a small tree and binding never released.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions or just want to bitch to someone that can relate. You really need to make sure you get a good surgeon. Fortunately, or unfortunately, around a ski mountain is where surgeons get the most experience with TPFs.

Very next run. After I left you guys I skied down Snakedance to the Internationale Chair and fell not too far down.

How was it outside the gates?
