This is a different area, they were deep in the Commonwealth Basin below Kendall Katwalk. It's a "common" alternative approach/exit to getting to KAZ. Far walk / pain to get to, but the view from the ridge there is of course amazing. Very big terrain trap IMO, but the slab they released was pretty small. I think they got unlucky, but also probably a bit sketchy of an area to be in. In general I think the forecast for Saturday didn't hit the mark - even my expectation vs posted observation was way off. Things didn't bond very well when I thought they might.
Ah yeah, I have gone that way one time on an epic day when we skied the Spoon Man face.
Thanks
Yeah Spoonman area is great. I'm glad they were all relatively ok, it's a good warning that a small slide can result in bad accidents. I think many people (myself included) can really get complacent up at the pass.
Hoping to get up towards the end of this month for a nightski with my 3yr old. Do they light up the tandem magic carpet at Central on thursday nights, and is it open to the public, or is it only open for lessons?
Do you have to buy a ticket for a 3yr old, or is it just walk on like it was end of year at Alpy's magic carpet?
0-6 yrs old is like $18 for magic carpet night shredding.
If you have a season pass you can probably get that discounted.
Or just roll up and ride it. I was never checked when I took my kid on the carpet but that was a few years ago.

Yes the carpet is open for all and lit at nights.
The double carpet at central is frequently checked for tickets. The vast majority of the time I'd say. The carpets at West aren't nearly as long, but they rarely check tickets at them, so that may influence your decision.
It doesn't work for night skiing, but I've never seen a ticket checked at the Alpental carpet or on the St. Bernard chair the past 3 years
Orbs were out at Alpental today

Nash never opened and likely won’t tomorrow. Left at half past twelve and new international chair wasn’t running yet either.

I’ll be up tomorrow if anyone wants to grab a lap. Did a mt Catherine loop nordork style today and it was icy down low but nice up high.
Forecast for the weekend is looking like the dumpage is about to start. Looking forward to the upcoming stoke!
we’re overdue for some grunting
Well sheeit I'd upload a grunt pic of Vic on 90's MerlinV's from yesterday but the site is borked.
Move upside and let the man go through...
We’ve had tickets checked at Bernard on weekend days during past two seasons.Originally Posted by PNW Lifer;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640

How’s the parking situation been this season with the new permit policy? I’ve been injured and spouse is reluctant to get skunked taking the kids up on her own and have to deal with lots too full.

West lots fill by 9 on lesson weekends. Central maybe slightly later? Alpental probably hasn't filled but obviously shit conditions will do that.
They've been very actively patrolling the lots for permits but there's still a ton of people looking to recreate in the mountains.
We are not early risers (and no rush with the kids), but have been able to grab spots at West and East ~10:30 AM on weekends after some stressful circling. If you don't want to risk it I'd arrive before 9.
Pretty decent skiing this morning, I may even go as far as saying the bowl was pleasantly soft. Fingers crossed the new snow bonds well.
Sort of looks like a few days of dumpage, then back to clear and cold. Still a decided improvement.
Powder fever will be in full effect.
