What you can do and what you should do ain't the same thing.

Ski Areas has been the home of punk ass behavior since...ski areas and punk ass behavior

Its a crazy place. Always has been always will be. The Skiers Responsibility Code and The PSA and Crusty Fucks won't change that.

So stop mid slope, cite the courtesies you expect, sign the waiver, read the back of the lift ticket...but don't be surprised.

Its the defensive driving of skiing. Except instead of a smashed up whip you get to go to the hospital.

So yes, you are right. And the Mach Looney snowboarder spraying you is wrong. But the internet equivalent of asking to talk to the manager is on you.

This is the Mutha Fuckin Basin we are talking about.

I was joking about snowboarder hate.

I ride with snowboarders all the time.

You don't know what woke means dude

If the slope is wide open with no one else around (I'm assuming it's not a narrow trail), you can stop wherever the fuck you want, if you're visible from above
In this case the snow slider above was an asshole

From someone that's never been to A-Basin; do I have to eat a bag of dicks to ski there"

There used to be a fair amount of above average snowboarders who rode the basin on a regular basis. Most have moved on or converted to skiing. Don't see much impressive sideways sliding there anymore. The park has gotten toned way down as well, maybe that's part of it. Expansion into the side country definitely part of it too. Beavers used to be such a great powder playground. Now it is mostly fucked.

I used to go out there so much, so many days. I skied it one time (with whip!) since they put the groomers in there, didn't even recognize it. I guess I'm glad it's not my home hill any more. Kinda glad kinda sad. Leave the past in the past I guess. I have a great place to ski now, can't complain.

Main Street and spine were pretty smooth on Friday. Hopefully this wind and small amounts of snow is doing some more of that.

Cool, I carried a radio for most of the 80's for patrol there. I may have an over inflated sense of self esteem.

Unless recovering from a fall, the middle of a trail is not the place to be stopped -
it almost invites being sprayed with snow and/or leading to a collision.

Please stop at the edge of trails or runs, and Not be such an inviting target.

    peace, my friends.

    xactly

plus> think about it... the middle of a groomer is where all the people who cant stop safely and avoid others make their turns... they would be in the hospital if they rode on the trail edge

in all fairness they were probably sprayed with snow by me at Snowbird and were just looking to even the score !

OMG I got sprayed with snow! and I have waterproof clothing on too! * just teasin'

REMEMBER the RULEz ... we spray with a stable carving turn at an angle to the sprayed rider.

... Never approach from directly uphill, any accident and you are an incoming missile people would have to dodge to avoid serious injury.

LMAO, a Boarder got me, on day one, a few Sundays ago. I wasn't really planning on returning the favor but he stopped in the perfect spot for a giant wave of snow over his head from behind.

Have fun and keep it safe!

Skiing groomers last friday and an asshole snowboarder comes flying up to my girlfriend and myself pulls a hockey turn and sprays us with snow somewhat of a close call. Wide open center of Lenawee no one else around all the room in the world. Shit like that makes me want to ski little independent areas far from large metropolitan areas.

Pretty much from 92-2010 but I declined doing patrol in favor of just free skiing with friends. I still have friends at Aspen, Highlands and Snowmass patrols. Actively recruited by Aspen but was making such good money
I just wanted to be able to get high and have a beer at lunch, I put another 10 years in after leaving the RF here tho.

Got a parking res for Sunday as well. We desperately need snow, but I’m glad to just be skiing at this point. Come on winter!

Got a parking res for Saturday. Gonna push the limits and show up at a leisurely 10am and see how it works out. I mean, if you can't do that, then the system is flawed right?

I’m wondering if early riser will even fill to be honest. Not sure that it has yet this season. One Saturday it was close to filling around 11, when I was leaving, but by then there were enough cars exiting that I’m not sure they even went up to high noon.

Early riser was full last Saturday. High noon was mostly full. No real lines except when a group of 100 TS kids mobbed the lift.

I’m wondering the same thing. Every day I’ve been so far this season, there’s been plenty of parking - although I always park in high noon so my perspective may be skewed. Thinking the paid weekend days are going to curb more folks until we get a good storm cycle.

Heard they only sold half of the season pass cap. I think they sold out last year early.

I left at about 10:30 (had to work) and Early riser was just full by then but also people were leaving so spots were opening back up.

Beavers was just loafer and Davis, sounded like the other openings would be more limited and or directed or something. Maybe delayed? I’m not sure. Loafer was kinda fun though.
