    But yeah, hopefully they can afford to pay the patrol a lot more, now that I'm paying $150 for a fucking "Right to make a reservation pass". That pass should get me a few laps on a tow rope out of the gullies or something.

    End of the day, the place is going to shit and everyone should boycott it. I'm off to the SW desert for a while till like almost Xmas. Save some snow for me when I get back.

    Have gotten a tow out a couple of times, makes wanting to hike it tough after that.

    Hopefully that extended desert trip means lots of snow for us here

    Nice to be skiing over on the Pali side today. Main Street was actually skiing nice just best to cut left at the lower gut for now. Little sporty through that choke.

    I have bought a few Delirium Tremens up there for exorbitant prices. But not fucking VooDoo ranger or Flat Tire. Either way it is one of the the biggest insults to the "Vibe" they claim to be working so hard to protect.

    Yeah, I'm bitter and need to go skiing. I have too much time in warm climates the last month. Legs are gonna be jello.

    Skiing groomers last friday and an asshole snowboarder comes flying up to my girlfriend and myself pulls a hockey turn and sprays us with snow somewhat of a close call. Wide open center of Lenawee no one else around all the room in the world. Shit like that makes me want to ski little independent areas far from large metropolitan areas.

    Can't hockey stop or turn even.

    okay ,,, so conceding that a hard heel-side Stop is not a 'hockey stop' , I believe Foggy- makes a good point >>

    Unless recovering from a fall, the middle of a trail is not the place to be stopped -
    it almost invites being sprayed with snow and/or leading to a collision.

    Please stop at the edge of trails or runs, and Not be such an inviting target.

    peace, my friends.

    Are you saying that when I'm skiing with little kids that they can't stop or fall because they might get nailed? That's not how it works.

    Colorado state law says the uphill person needs to avoid anyone below, stopped or not. The only trouble is when you're stopped below a blind rollover..

    no ! That is certainly Not what I am saying. !
    Children is a very different situation than the situation described above ( a man and his girlfriend ) ;

    Respectfully, stopping below a blind rollover is not ( Not ) the only problem -
    one of my mantras is Safety is everyone's responsibility.
    If you don't ever see four or five or six snowboarders sitting in a line, perpendicular to the fall line (across the hill ), Summit County is more advanced than my region ( - That would be great ! ) ;

    Safety -
    Children get special consideration --

    But I am not going to rely on State law or The Skier's Code to protect me from reckless behavior.

    You've been a children's instructor for a long time, and I would trust any of the children important in my life to You.

    Safety is a matter that with guiding principles ( and laws ) still is best considered on the merits of the specific situation ;

    with the Christmas / New Year's holidays just around the corner, this seemed like a reasonable opportunity to try to encourage and promote Safety.

    I apologize to anyone offended by that.

    Still
    Please
    Be safe.

    It's perfectly acceptable to stop in the middle of the trail so long as you are clearly visible from above (and not in a group all stopping horizontally across the trail). To imply otherwise, that the person stopped in the middle of the trail is partially at fault, is BS.

    As someone who often skis on the edges of the groomer, I actually prefer people stop in the middle and not the edges.

    My idea of safety is skiing and riding in control, also part of the skier safety act. That means someone coming down the hill needs to be able to change speed and direction at will and therefore be able to avoid hitting inanimate objects like trees or standing skiers.

    I'm a little salty right now from early season wrod. People straightlining at full speed with no regard for other people. Not sure if it's worse this year or I've just lost patience for it.

    Are you saying I can’t lay down when I’m high to the bejesus belt tomorrow afternoon in Marmot bowl and take in the view? Because Colorado law says I can and I take safety seriously. Spray me if you must but there is a bag-o-dicks reputation and a vibe to protect.

    Kinda/sorta kidding but promise I won’t hurt anyone. Looking forward to crushing chalk over there. If you hear tunes coming from the sundeck it’s likely me and I’ll likely have an extra pocket beer. Hope I’m not counting chickens early on the beavers.

    Thanks! ENDO- I laughed --

    I want this thread to drift back to the A-basin stoke.

    There was an interesting thread on another site recently that included ski-along video of a collision between two moving downhill ;
    by the twentieth post, there was not even agreement which party was downhill, and which party was uphill -

    anyway -
    Back to the A-basin stoke !

    The Basin is so short you really shouldn't stop at all. Hot Laps to the tailgate for a few beers then GTFO! And stop standing right in front of the lift maze! Looking at you Team Summit.

    I think everyone is missing the real point here, and that is we should bring back the 90s hatred of snowboarders. Pure bag of dickness imo.

    I think it’s worse this year but then again, I’m older and crankier. And I’m very sick of the early season icy WROD.

    probably is, I had a guy almost nail me straightening high noon back before more opened. But basically everything is worse like the way people drive for example

    I would hate to denigrate a fellow maggot, however that is some serious Woke attitude. My step son snowboards, I hang with a many snowboarders and split boarders from all across the west US and Europe. I can't imagine any of them getting aggro and rude. If you want to warp down the slope more power to you but with a slope nearly 100 yards wide and two people stopped midslope what's the point other than demonstrating you are a dickhead?
